Xew Tobk, Sept. 25. There is a wide diversity of opinion here regarding the to be or not to be of the 12-Club Baseball League. As the season draws to a close the feeling on the matter is becoming stronger. Many people argue that the consolidation has been a failure, and in support of this it is argued that almost every club in the League has lost money. Amoug those who think that the League and the Association made a mistake in con solidating are Presidents Hart, Soden aad Captain Anson. John B. Day, President Byrne and Director Howe disagree with them. The latter maintain that under any circumstances the present year would not have been more successful. The double season and the 12 club organization were experiments, and, while they have by no means been a success in any of the Leagues that have tried them. It is an open question whether the League and the Association would have tared better as separate organi zations. In viewing the results of the season and talcing a look ahead the magnates are unde cided as to their future movements. There 1 6(imi' talk of the division of the 12-club organization. The old League clubs will, it issuld, resume their former ciicuit, rith one chamuionsbip, and Washington. Louisville. St. Louis, Baltimore. Kansas Oity, Indian apolis, Troy and Buffalo will make up the new Association circuit. The Association will then have 25-cent ball and Sunday (rames, while the League will resume its old principles. Of course this Is mostly surmise, bnt many C"od authorities think that another change w ill be made. Old Leacuers argue that such cities as Pittsburg have everything to losebv sticking to such cities as Baltimoie, Louis ville and St. Louis. The magnates will give the local club some attention. They mav take the clnb entirely out of the hands of the present directors D v buying their stock and putting the club into new hands. Anson mav then be induced to come here, and with lull power to act he may get together a team that will be a credit to this city and the people who patronize baseball. Cincinnati Mlns Two Games. St. Louis, Sept. 23. The Browns lost the first game to-day through generally stunid playing. Plenty of openings were lelt by the Cincinnati, bnt the tail enders failed to take advantage of them. Gleason pitched Indifferently, while Meekln did his best. The second game was but a repetition of the first, with the addition of some heavy slug ging by both teams. Weather cloudy.
