A WORLD OF WEALTH; The Western Prospector "With a Scheme That Outdoes Col. Sellers. HIS HIDDEN SEA' OP GOID DUST Wants a Substantial Companrto Develop the Kicli Find. THE SCHBME PORTRAYED ON PARCHMEST Samuel Trumbull, a young "Western pros pector and miner, arrived in Pittsburg re cently and is stopping at the Arthur Hotel, on Twenty-seventh street, Sonthside. Mr. Trumbull has a glowing, cheerful way about him, and he has an unworked scheme, be fore which Colonel Mulberry Sellers' rail road to the moon pales into insignificance. Mr. Trumbull sees almost within his reach more money than would pay the national debt, and h'e has more childlike confidence than can be found at an ordinary Demo cratic convention. On a piece of heavy parchment, in all the colors of the rainbow, Mr. Trumbull ha3 painted his project, and all he wants.now is a company, financially substantial, to aid him in its development. The scheme on paper was developed to a Dispatch re porter yesterday. The story of the rich find is interesting. "I am a miner, plain and simple," Mr. Trumbull said. "I have worked claims in California and every gold-producing State in the Union, but I have struck it rich at last. "What I now want is to keep on the inside and not get the worst of it, as the miner usually does." Then Mr. Trumbull unrolled his parch ment It looked a landscape from an old master. There's Slillions in It! "There's my scheme, sir," he said, and he threw himself back into his chair with the air of a Mackey or a Jones. "You see those snow-clad mountains? They are the Bockies. Here," pointing to a brown bulge on the parchment, "is a valley. At one time this was a sea of lava. After it baked hard it bulged up, leaving a hollow space beneath. In that hollow space is a world of gold dust. "Why, my friend," he went on with some enthusiasm, "there is this minute more gold there than there is in the national treasury. It is simply inexhaustible. 1 tell you the wealth of a world is buried there, and it is ours if we go after it. " "How do you propose reaching it?" was asked, ''Ah, that's the scheme. See," he said, pointing to a sort of a tower painted red, and placed with an artist's skill on the summit of the brown bulge on the parch ment. From the tower down through the bulge or upheaval, to the bottom of the painting where gold dust was liberally sprinkled on the parchment a red line ex tended. "That is supposed to be a pump ing station, and the red line extending down through the heavy crust to the hollow space represents the hole to be drilled. It is 1,000 feet from the surface to the hollow space, I propose to drill through, place my pump at the bottom and force the gold dust to the surface. All I want is $40,000 or $50,000 to do the drilling, I will take all the chances. I will be the first to go down into the hole, and I will guarantee to make a millionaire out of any one who will help me out. ""Where is this place?" was asked. "I am keeping that quiet, but if you can help me any I don't mind giving the snap away. It is in Montana. It is in a canyon in the Bockies, and is just 100 miles north west of Helena. Here," he said, pointing to the right of the picture, "a herd of wild horses stay. Guarded by a Band ot Outlaws. "Behind that snow-topped peak the biggest and boldest band of horse thieves known to the boundless "West are in hid ing. Off to the right, where the horses stay, is a vast tract of unclaimed land, and the herd of horses roam at their own sweet will, and probably many of them have never seen a living being. To the left here is Snake river. This river bursts out from under the hard-baked lava and carries out great quantities of gold. This gold is caught by dippers, but it is of an inferior quality, and only proves my position that there is still a rich mint in that hollow space." As Mr. Trumbull told his story one could almost see the great sea of gold dust, hear the clatter of the wild horses rushing in confusion through their unlimited pasture, and see the daring horse thieves stealing their way through the rugged mountain pass to their rendezvous. "Oh, it's a great scheme," the miner con cluded, "and I want to give Pittsburg capi talists a chance at it." Stop that cough. It is a danger signal. Plso's Cure for Consumption never fails. Pleasant to take. All druggists. 2o cents. TUS Can it be done? Yesterday's sales show that it can. Kinety thousand dollars' worth of overcoats, bought by Kaufmanns' lor $57,000, to be closed out to the people of Pittsburg this week for $60,000, is the great problem to be solved this week.
