There is something typically American about the Governor's de- mand for satisfaction. There is something appealing about his de- mand for “fair play” in this matter There is something plausible about his argument that such a grand jury probe can be dragged into and through a campaign to the advan- tage of one party, the disadvantage of another, and a denial to the vot- ing public of its right to have the facts No ponderous legal arguments are involved in the Governor's challenge to District Attorney Shel- ley. It is simplicity itself. Nothing in the court record prohibits Mr Shelley from arresting the Governor and his associates if the evidence warrants. The District Attorney need not be influenced by consider- ation for fair play. If the evidence is there it is his duty to arrest. The Governor's gauntlet is in the ring Let the District Attorney take it up, or refusing, tell the public why Likewise, let the Governor's eritics who are making such a fiss over his endeavor to get his enessles out in the open, pause and think. If we can remember correctly, there was no such fuss a number of years back when a lawyer by the name of James Scarlet unearthed the “Capitol graft case,” which sent a lot of Republicans to the peniten- tiary and caused a number to com- mit suicide. And there was no chance of involving the Democrats, because the Republicans were in full control of administrative affairs. a let i i The strict enforcement of traffic is one way to be sure that has been | Rey Buhida | WiCk ti Hublershurg Evangelical - Reformed Hu Berry ity day morn 0 Beptember ET —— school, m., Harry worship m.
