Philadelphia Ji'eir York JJoston New Harm Baltimore New Torlt, June 20. Today's stock mnrkct was in almost every essential a complete renllra of the preceding m- ! slons. It rvan an extremely dull affair, In truth even duller than esterday, and what little trading there was done (was confined exclusively to the profes- slonnls. The constructive party had no en ' couraRement to push their side of the I case, while, on the other hand, the re actionists were restrained from launch , ins nny (treat amount of npurcsilveuess by reason of the extreme narrowness of ' the market. As a result fluctuations were confined within narrow limits, and what changes did occur represented en I tirely the familiar scalping operations I of the room contingent, i Money market conditions continued the dominating iufluence and answered for the lifeless caliber of the dealings. With the knowledge of the further ! heavy government withdrawals today uo one looked for mntcrial change in mnnev rates and no one was disap pointed on this score. , The renewal rate was fixed nt yes terday's opening rate of 0 per ccut, in dicating how absolutely artificial ano misleading the superficial easing of the call loan rate to 7 per cent was in the late trading yesterday. Some, however, seemed to think that with the .July dl'buri'cments out of the way there will be an appreciable easing of rates next week. On the other hand, those who dig down n little deeper were of the opinion that reserve bank ratios gave little hope of any great change in money market conditions. The developments at the Trifco con vention also contributed to curtail market ventures, although Wall street apparently is giving. less concern to the Jacksonian party deliberations than It did to the G. O. P. several weeks ago. The greater majority of the market fol lowing apparently are encouraging a belief that no matter whom the Demo crats put up. or what kind of a platform they build, the Republicans arc going to win. Of course, the mere conservative element are quite willing to keep to the watchful waiting stand and defer ac tivities until it is seen what will turn The market showed an inclination to droop during the most of tho session, but apart from the chemical shares, the declines did not amount to much or carry significance. Tossibly one of the more noticeable movements occurred in Delaware and Hudson, uhich suffered a decline of nearly four points in the first hour to 83 on rumors of a prob able cut in tho dividend from a 0 to 7 per cent basis. This is the lowest price at which the stock has sold in several generations. The low record for many years was made in tho time of trade depression in 1S77. when it sold down to 2S. Follow ing the steady improvement in coal trade, as a siuenee of the famous gentlemen's agreement, the stock moved up steadily until it sold at 2404 in 11)05. Its lowest price since then was S7. made on June 17 of this year. The company started its dividend payment in 1832 and has had an un broken record. An analysis of its earn ings would seemingly foreshadow a divi dend cut, hence the new low record made today. Dealings continued to diminish rather than increase as the day progressed. There was little change in the tone of the market, except for an extension of the drooping tendency to the food shares. DUNHAM 6gi Investment Seeunfe 43 Exchango Plnco New York Today's local market was a creation in name only. As a matter of fact, there was little short of a complete suspension of animation as well as op erations. With less than a half dozen shares of stocks having total transac tions of and over 100 shares, some idea may be obtained of the stagnation. Any doubts as to this assertion can be easily dispelled by reference to the table of the day's transactions printed elsewhere. When one stops to con sider, however, that almost every ave nue of doing business has been shut off to the brokers, the extreme dullness Is not surprising. Money for stock ex change purposes continued unabtalnable at any rate. It would require a wide stretch of imagination to create any significance or feature out of such diminutive deal ings Almost all transactions were per functory, and represented cash dealings nn either the buying or selling side. All i thp business was in small odd lots and price changes were small. About the only change note was the establishment of a new low record by Lhigh Naviga tion at .77. Rapid Transit. Most of the news affecting- corn was bearish today and the market was weaker. Crop advices were more favorablo and the hot spell apparently was broken in sections, while cood rains were shown In a large part of the belt. Monday's receipts aggregated C23 cars, which did not indicate any sudden ending of the movement. Most receiv ers expected good arrivals for ten days or two weeks at least. The cash article was 1 to 2 cents lower early, but later some grades im proved. At the outset, there was a rush to sell futures by local operators who were long over night. lressure was applied against July in anticipation of de liveries. On extreme dips, fair support developed all around, but bulees caused ,a resumption of offerings. lietter crop reports, rain over the dry spots of the belt and tho weakness in corn all contributed toward a lower market for oats. There was a moderate rally from the bottom, caused by provt-taklng by shorts, due to stability in tho cash article and a good shipping demand' Following thus, pressure was renewed against futures and the improvement was not maintained.
