OVKH at the Hellenic in the ltose CJnrdcn there was the ball given .by the Roland Taylors for Klizabeth Ann, which was a very beautiful affair. Slar jorie, Elizabeth's sister, received with her mother and the debutante, and most of the buds of the season were among the guests. A great many people went to both balls. In fact, I heard one man at the Benedicks' say that Uo had just danced with SI at the Tay lors' and was going back again for a danco with C . after two dances at the Benedicks'. So it went, and every one bad a great time CERTAINLY the teas nl the Cush raan Club am most attractive, are they not? I went up yesterday after noon to meet the little guest of honor, who, though her stage name is Lor raine Sherwood, is really Lorraine Sherwood Stahl, the daughter of the late Richard Stahl, of this city, whose work as a composer of light opera Was so well known in his time. Lorraine is very young, but has made a great success already of her talent and has one of the leading soubrette parts in one of the shovvs that is hnv ing a long run here. The little actress looked very charm ing yesterday in a dark brown georg ette crepe frock elaborately embroider ed in brown silk braid. A small bat of brown tulle and gold was worn with the. frock. At the tea table were Sirs. Fales Baker and Mrs. (Jeorgc Lorimer and overy one you know was at the tea. I saw Mrs. Kearsley Slitchell. Sirs. Sydney Hutchinson, Sirs. Clarrnce Zantzinger, Mrs. James. There were crowds of others there. It does seem so nice to have one of our own Philadelphians a successful nctress. Lorraine has an extremely pretty voice and you know that means some thing io these days of musical comedy when voices jire so much iu the back ground.
