Meanwhile Lieutenant Stuart Morgan, until recently nn nrmy I aviator, is being kept busy taking up ARburg lnrk visitors for rides in ins big Curtiss plane. Lieutenant Morgan has been somewhat surprised to find that women are the most cnthusinstic and by far the most numerous who . apply for rides in tho nir. With Lieu- tenant Hall Micclli ns pilot, an aerial mail hcrvico between Newark nnd the snore nas necn estnmisneu. vncr u ls proposed to institute an aerial com-mutr-j' service between Manhattan nnd the shore, Ingalls V. Uppercue, of New York, having made a trip one day this week by nir to his country place here. Anbury's Memorial Day crowds were the largest on record in tho history of the city, ami rivaled even tne July Fourth throng. The nrrivnl of vaca tionists caused several of the hotels to advance their openings, among them the New Ocean Hotel, one of the most attractive houses conducted on the Euroncnn nlnn in the citv. Many other largo houses hnd their opening day and j, still others havc-hxeu Juno 10 as their opening. The remarkable feature of the spring has been the steady leasing of cottnges with the result that on Memorial Day there were not thirty cottages on the lists of real estate men offered for the season. The housing situation in New York may partly account for the de mand, but real estntc men say that the reaction from the war probably is the best answer At all events Asbury Pnrk has not him, in twenty years, such a demand for summer villas. i New Hotels Being Planned Several projects aro being formed here for building operations nt the close of the present season. The newly elected city commissioners, on n schedule which includes nn artistic development of the city lakes and parks, particularly Sunset Lake and mall, in tho heart of the "North Asbury Park oottagc"nnd hotel district and one of the beauty spots of the resort. They are in co-opeintion with the chamber of commcice, whose activities just now are being concentrated in now hotel con struction. Demands, for hotel reservations are in step with the cottage seekers, if the experience of Sherman O. Dennis, of tho New Monterey, is nn indication. In the three years he has been manager of the Monterey, Mr. Dennis snjs his reservations have never been so grnt as this year. Mrs. Margaret Frost at the Lafayette, W. Harvey Jones nt the Columbia, Mrs. Ada M. Sexton at the Coleman, A. R. Parsons nt tho Bruns" wick, C. Arthur Applegato at the Mon mouth, Harry Duflield nt the Thcdford, I. D. Townsend at the Albion. Charles Beers, Jr., nt tho 'Manhattan these and scores of other well-known hotel proprietors declare that the bookings have not been ko heavy In years. The formal opening of the Monterey will mark the opening of its new grill ; n prettily decorated room with accom modations for 400 diners and with nil amplo dance floor, which has been con structed in the southeast corner, of the ground floor. A feature of the grill will bo a "soft" drink bar with Eng lish barmaids as waitresses. The dan sants arc to bo featured thcro with Miss Vera Lyons and Miss Symonctte Botta, who will be the Monterey mis tresses of ceremonies this season, in charge of tho entertainment program. The evening -dances in the grill will con tinue until midnight, with the 'orchestra augmented after 10 o'clock by the hotel ballroom musicians. HUimiER RESORTS ASIIUHY TAHK. N. J.
