Virginia, central and southern Kentucky, southern Indiana, Illinois and Missouri and In the eastern two-thirds of Kansas Winter wheat Is In blossom in Minnesota and Is beginning to ripen in southern Nebraska: but In general this crop Is considerably lato In the northern portion of the district In which It Is growing High temperatures and hot wind caused further damage to wheat in western Kan sas Although scattered showers occurred In the spring wheat region, more rain Is needed, specially In the central portion of North Dakota, where the crop Is suffering quite badly It Is poor In northern Minne sota also , but condition Is from fair to ex. cellent In the southern portion of that State, except on low ground where heavy rainfalls have previously occurred Cotton Is growing well In northern Mississippi but continues small In the southern portion of that State It Is clean and fruiting well In some sections TIants are small In Alabama also, but the crop is In fair condition and squares are forming as far north as the Tennessee Valley. The crop Is heading nicely In South Dakota, although the straw Is short In localities, and It continues very promising In that State. It Is heading also In Wiscon sin and Idaho.
