PM. Tho Largest Farm in tbe World-—A Monitor Plantation of Nine Dnndrod Square Miles In Booth America. The Buodob Ayres correspondent of the N. Y. Timet gives tho following no ■ count ofhls visit to the great estanelOi or inonßter form of Senor General Don Jose de Urqulza: The only Indication that we have reached Its border Is thut on each hand, at the distance of three hundred yards from eaoh other, making an a y e^ u ® similar width, there are planted trees designed to form an avenue the entire distance to tho estaucla*hoUß6—eleven miles. As wo truvel onward the cattle increase in numbers, and oßtrlcheH, sol itary or In groups, come up near us, or slowly cross our road. These birds are thus tame, because the General has or dered that not one shall ever be killed or molested. And so abundant are they that, as General Urqulzu told me him self, ho has been ottered the sum of $lO, 000 in sliver for the privilege of taking them. But from humanity orfrom fancy he spared the birds. N ear the resldenceof the General there is a permanent encampment of soldiers under his Immediate cominund. The residence lias received tho name of Han Joho, after Its chosen patron saint, Ht. Joseph. The buildings are one story high, of brick, and are built around two large squares. The open space Is paved with sandstone, and four sides are oc cupied by the apartments pertulning to the dwelling house. The margin of the square, the ten feet nearest the' house, is covered with a finely wrought net work of iron, supported by iron pillars, and overspread with the branches of fruitful trees. At the outer range of the buildings there is a store, near it the chapel, next the oflice of the Hecretary, then the apartment of two aides-de-camp, then the extensive array of parlors and pri vate rooms provided for the large fam ily and innumerable visitors. On entering the garden there was a beautiful array of exotic plauts, from every quarter of the globe. Aviaries filled with gay birds of sweet voice adorn the garden, i need not mention names of rare plants, but from the ex treme North, from Australia, * Cape Horn, from Africa, Asia, and from the gardens of Europe, were gathered the floral treasures that udorn eueh oLher in this winterless climate, under the most exact artistic cure. The gardens for vegetables and fruits were a study. Here are upples, peaches, pears, apri cots, nectarines, grapes, pomegranites, quinces, figs, bananas, oranges, lemons and most of these in measureless abun dance. At the edge of the drchard there is in process of construction an artificial lake about seventy-five rods square, and from twenty to thirty feet deep. The wails are of a most substan tial double work, ami stamped with” clay between. The wuler is to be brought about one mile from a neigh boring river, and it will be elevated by machinery. On this lake there will be a little steamer where the sons destined for the navy will learn engineering and make mimic voyages. The estimate of the cost of the lake is .$100,001), silver. The cluipel, intended for worship by the iamily, will seat about sixty per sons, and the costly appointments, of vestments, precious stones, silver furni ture, line paintings, pianos, &c., alto gether must have cost at leust beyond the sum of sf>u,ooo in silver. The avenue of eleven miles leading up to the IVont of the house is suggestive of amplitude beyond, and there is the area of one hundred square leagues, or nine hundred square miles, that form the unbroken body of the farm. Over tlils-immense tract of unsurpassed land countless thousands of cattle, und horses and sheep are grazing. Of cattle the farm sends to the slaughtering establish ment of the same owner fifty thousand animuls unnually. His horses would supply the cavalry of a large army, und from the wool of the sheep ships are annually loaded and sent direct to Europe. Other tracts of land in other parts of the province are owned by him to u very large extent; but 1 am speaking omy of the San Jose t:nianci(i, the farm occupied as the owner’s residence. In all that province, though not now holding any civil ollice, uorou military duty, General L'rquiza is yet regarded as legitimate ruler, civil and military ; and hardly assuming anything, there is not ft department nor a precinct of the province that escapes his eye. On one week's notice he can call together an equipped army of lin.OdO men, ready for auy cause tiiul he should deem worthy of their steel. The rutancia of Hun Jose is alone in tlie world for extent and for culture under the owner's eye. It is larger than many of the principali ties of Central Europe, and in politics there is not au equal surface on the globe of greater unanimity among its inhabitants. A Dream That Sent Two Men to Prison The following singular circumstances are vouched for as strictly true by. the Detroit Tribune: Some months since a citizen of Branch county, in this State, employed two men to remove his deceased wife’s re mains, which they pretended to do,and claimed as recompense, one three dol lars and a half, and the other one dollar and a half. The gentleman being well pleased with their execution of the work, gave the latter two dollars, which he reused, giving back fifty ceuts. The following night the gentleman dreamed that one of the men visited his room naked, his body covered over with black spots, and on being asked what ailed him, he replied that the spots indicated the lies he had told, and the large one on his side the lie he had told him in regard to disinterring his wife’s re mains, which they had not done. On awaking, his dream so impressed him that he was led to ascertain whether the men had actually done what he hail paid them for doing, and ascertained that they had not. Ou his complaint they were arrested and sent to the tttate Prison for one year for obtaining goods under false pretenses, and aie now serving out their time at Jackson. professional (tods. JJ U. BITTERS WILL. CURE ALL DISEASES OF TIIE SKIN ! Diseases of the skin arc numerous and, with but one or two exceptions, may all bo traced to impurity of the blood. In many persons this Impurity Is born In the system; while oLhers acquire it through Improper treatment of scuro* of diseases. Under this huud may bo classed— Ist, Scrofula,—Tills disease Is hereditary aud Is transmitted from generation to generation. It Is caused by a transgression of the laws of nature, both moral aud physical; lu oilier words, it is caused by vice. Acting us a latent poisou, It reduces ttie vitality of the blood, and weakens the depuratlug organs, so that - hey fall to discharge or cast out tne Impurities tout are continually generating in the system. A person physically pure acquires gonorhcea, or some other secret disease; he undergoes a course of mercury, tin disease Is dried up, and the patient pronounced wed. Vain delusion. Tho complaint is not cured, Its channel Is only diverted. Instead of making its appearance outwardly, ilaclsou tho Internal organs, and scrolula. which is bequeathed from father to son. is the result. Many persons who are per fectly free from all Immorality und vice are al flicted wlih scrofula. They are suffering for the sins of their fathers ana laboring under the curse inscribed In the Bo kof Books. •• I will visit 'the Iniquities of the fathers upon their children." To cure this dreadful complaint It is neces sary that the blood should be thoroughly puri fied. all the organs of the body brought into a healthy state of action, and ilie system braced up and strengthened by Invigorating tonics.— Look at tho articles used in compounding Mlshler’s Bitters; see the array of purifying and invigorating mcndlcaments, and say whether there Is an article lu the whole list of medicines that equals It. We here emphatically assert, without fear of contradiction, that MIBHLEK’B BITTERS WILL CUKE ALL KINDS UF HCKOFULOUH DISEASES. It purifies the blood, it strengthens the inter nal organs and aids them to perform their nat ural functions, It Is a stimulant and a tonic and It will cure Scrolula. 2d, Running Sores and Ulcers.—Running sores and ulcers invariably ludlcate a scrofu lous taint. They are caused by the efforts ol nature todlschurge the impurlllesof tho blood. Muny peisons afflicted will! Canning sores and ulcers succeeded In drying them up aud tulnk they ar cured w i.<ra tne sklu grows over tho sore. They are, however, "but making bud worse,” for tho lto, rarities that were discharged from the system tirough Die medium ol the sore now act Internally and cause Innumerable diseases and often deulh. Tho only true and sure cure for all running sores and ulcers is Mlsnlor's Bitters, u continued and persevering use of which will most certululy effect a per* mancnl cure. 3d, Balt Rheum.—-Balt Rheum Is a vague, In definite, though, popular term given to al most all the non-l'ebrlle eruptions of tne skin which afflict udults. Ills generally au erup tion of vesicles In small, distinct ulcers, uo cornpunieu with a smarting, tingling sensation, wltn a tendency to creep or spread over the ad joining suriuce, Mlshler's Billers are a sure euro for this diseuse. t •ith. Pimples aud Blotches.—Pimples and Blotches ou the skin are always a sure slgu ol Impure blood. Although neverdangerous, ex cept In u;n ■> ol carbuncles, they are very dls agreee >n\ Often we will see the most hand some features rendered hideous by great blotches uud pimples, and instead of the pieus- Ing look which should irradiate the humau luce we see nothing but disgust.ng corruption ; for pimples anil blotches are uotulng but the cor rupt accumulations ol the system expelled through the medium of the skin. I have known Hoofland’s Germnn Bitters favorably for a number of years' I have used them in my own family, and have been so pleased with th*-lr effects, that I was Induced to recommend them to many others, and know that they have operated In a strikingly benefi cial manner. I take great pleasure In thus publicly proclaiming this fact, and calling the attention of thoseaflllcted with the diseases for which they are recommended, to these Bitters, knowing irom experience that my recommen dation will be sustained. Ido this more cheer full as Hoofland's Bitters Is Intended tobeneilt the afflicted, and Is “ not a rum drink.” Yours, trulv, LEVI G. BECK. • • » * « From Rev. J. Newton Brown, D. D., Editor of the Encyclopedia of Religious Knowledge and Christian Chronicle, Philadelphia Although not disposed to favor or recorn mend Patent Medicines In general, through distrust of their Ingredients and effects, I yet know of no sufficient reasons why a man may not testify to the btneflts he believes himself to have received from any simple preparation, In the hope that he may thus contribute to the benefit of others. I do tills the more readily In regard to Hoof land’s German Bitters, prepared by Dr. C. M. Jackson, oi this city, because I was prejudiced against them for many years, under the im pression that they were chiefly an alcoholic mixture. I am Indebted to my friend, Robert Shoemaker, Esq., for the removal of this preju dice by proper tests and for encouragement i o try them when sulferlng from great and long cod tlnued debility. The use of three bottles of these Bitters at the beginning of the present year, was followed by evident reliefand restor ation to a degree of bodily and mental vigor which I had not felt for six months before, and had almost despaired of regaining. I therefore thank God and my frlenddlrectlng me to the use of them. J. NEWTON BROWN Philadelphia. From the Rev. Thos. Winter. D.
