Dr. Thompson then cot from the Yehiele te the back of the animal, but was unable te check bis flight The horse was running directly towards the steep embankment at the end of the stenti abutment at the entrance el the Columbia bridge, and, as the animal neared this place, Dr. Thompson Jumped from the horse. The embankment at this place Is about HI toen feet deep and an Iren railing extends from the brldse along the stone wall. The bone ran for the bank and made a plunge down It at the end of the Iren railing. Dr. Craig caught held ei the Iren railing and thereby saved himself from a terrible fall. The car riage was also prevented trem going down the bank by the railing. When the horse went ever the", bank he was entirely free from all the harness. Dr. Thompson received a few Blight bruises, but Dr. Craig get a ery ugly gash at the knee of bis right leg and wi.s otberwise bruised. He is reutined te his home by reason el his injuries. The horse was net injured in any manner trem his jnmpdewn the embankment of about 11 flee u feet. The carriage also escaped damage. A Terrible Fall Frem a Tree.
