Colombia, P. July 7. A, very ac
rleai runaway accident happened In Colum
bia, lata hour yesterday mernlnj-, te Dr.
A. Craig; of town, and Dr. Jebn Thompson,
ef WrlhUvllle. They were driving in the
(Triage of the latter en their way te the
town across the rlver. The centlemen vrere
;:S driving across the Pennsylvania railroad,
:yif'': when the horse became frlRbtoned at the

te ran off. Dr. Thompson endeavored te

tew. but this caused the bit te break.
Dr. Thompson then cot from the Yehiele te
the back of the animal, but was unable te
check bis flight The horse was running
directly towards the steep embankment at
the end of the stenti abutment at
the entrance el the Columbia bridge,
and, as the animal neared this place,
Dr. Thompson Jumped from the horse.
The embankment at this place Is about HI toen
feet deep and an Iren railing extends from
the brldse along the stone wall. The bone
ran for the bank and made a plunge down It
at the end of the Iren railing. Dr. Craig
caught held ei the Iren railing and thereby
saved himself from a terrible fall. The car
riage was also prevented trem going down the
bank by the railing. When the horse went
ever the", bank he was entirely free from all
the harness. Dr. Thompson received a few
Blight bruises, but Dr. Craig get a ery ugly
gash at the knee of bis right leg and wi.s
otberwise bruised. He is reutined te his
home by reason el his injuries. The horse
was net injured in any manner trem his
jnmpdewn the embankment of about 11 flee u
feet. The carriage also escaped damage.
A Terrible Fall Frem a Tree.
Yesterday morning Jeseph McDlvitt,nbeut
12 years of age, son of William McDlvitt, liv
ing In Wrightsvllle, met with n probably
fatal accident while picking cherries at the
residence of Mr. 11. 11. l'axsen. Thobeywna
en the troe and tried te climb out en a limb
which hung ever the street; while se doing,
the limb broke and the boy tell a distance of
about 12 feet te the ground, lauding with
f;reat force en his head. The unfortunate
ad was removed te his home and Dr. Chan
nell summoned, when It was found that tbe
Bkull wa9 badly fractured. Sseieral pieces of
the skull have been removed and the chances
for recevery are Yery slight
Police New.
Uriah Helsinger and James Dallas, two
colored men of town, were arrestedbyOUicer
Hardnele for stealing picture frames from
the beuse et Jehn VanN'ess. They were at
this heuse and the frames disappeared with
their departure The stolen things were sold

Harry C. Kuuacgj's Deulli.
Harry O. Kauaegy, who died yesterday at
127 East Milllin street, was well-known in
this city. He was oighteeu years et
age and had been employed at several dll
lerent hotels in the city as a call boy. He
was also employed as a hack-driver. His
funeral took place this afternoon at 1 o'clock
and fellow back-drlvera acted as pall-bearers.

Henry Musser was beard by Alderman
