About eighteen years age be neTed te Columbia where he has since resided. Fer about twelve years he was yard bow at the Chestnnt Hill furnaces during the Incumbency or Mr. C. A. Nourse, as manager, but about four years age lie ac- cepted a position with Mr. rerrettet, which he held until his death. Mr. Jehnsen has been married ler forty years, and his last illness waa the first sickness he had during that time. On last Wednesday he whs stricken with typhoid fever, but hopes were entertained of bis recovery until yesterday afternoon, when a change for the worse waa observed. A wife and two sous are left te mourn the less efa kind and loving husband and father. Mr. Jehnsen was a member of the Mount Jey ledge of Odd r al lows. The funeral will take place en Sun day alternoen at 330 o'clock. Mr. Jehnsen was staunch Democrat and was a candidate for borough offices and, although an adverse majority caused bis defeat, a very flattering vote testified te bis worth ns a citizen of Col umbia. Police Nete. Charles Fltzpatrick, a workman at Yerk Haven, came te Columbia last evening and goten adrunk. lie was arrested by'OIHcer llardnele. This morning he had n hearing at the office of Squire Frank aud was com mitted te Jail for five days. Officer Kennedy, of the Pennsylvania rail road police, arrested two men last night for riding en freight trains. One of the uieu was colored and was very well dressed; he car ried small valise and n basket containing a complete set of barber tools. He gave his name as W. J. Wilsen. The white man gave bis name as Geerge Kesebury. Sqr.ire Frank committed mem te jail rur ten days each. Lee Andersen, a colored resident of town, entered suit at the ofllce el Squire Kvans against Samuel Richardson, auoiher colored man, ter throwing stone. Richardson threw a atene at a man aud a small daughter of Andersen was struck by the missile ; a terrible eash was cut In the forehead which received medical attention. A hearing will take place this evening. The National Game. The Saturday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock, the Columbia base ball club will play their first game of ball for this season, the opposing club te be the Keystones, of Manbeim.
