The joint county convention met in Ex celsier hall at 11 o'clock and was called te order by W. II. Reland, esq., chairman of the county committee, who stated the object of the convention te be the nemi nation of a county ticket. Beaidley Patterson, of Little Britain, was nominated and unanimously elected chairman. The secretaries of the three district con eutiuns were chosen secretaries of the county convention. The delegates te the district conventions were received as members of the county convention. The convention proceeded te nominate candidates for tiie county offices, as fol fel lows : Fer Dibttict Attorney : Jehn A. Ceyle, city. Directoisef Peer : Henry E. Sbimp, E. Cocalico ; Chi istiau B. HeuBcl, chq., stated that the county was entitled te two members of the state committee, and moved that it be the rule in this county for the delegates from the upper senatorial district te flleet u.e member, and for the delegates from tLe lower district te elect the ether. Adopted. W. Hayes Uiiei stated that the north nerth iru convention, when in session had te elected W. B. Given, erq , as their member of the htate coinnfcN'e. Th's action was ratified by the .u iiual convention ; and immediately alter it adjourned the dele gates from the lower senatorial district reassembled, Jehu A. Ceyle, esq., in the chair, and Mr. Ceylo was unanimously elected the ether member of the state committee. The following i evolution was then offer ercd by Mr. Geerge Tille : "ReaeUcd, That we heartily euderse the acts of the present Democratic state admtn ihtratien in each and every patticular, and especially' commend the governor in his action in standing by the constitution in calling an extraordinary session of the Legislature for appoitieument purposes." W. U Heuse! moved te amend by strik ing out the "m each and every particular;'' and he said that if anybody called for biB reasons for such a motion he was prepared te give them. He would net be misunder stood as desiring the convention te with held from the Democratic .state adminis tratien a frank and full endorse ment of its general course ; and for the resolution as he pro posed te amend it he was willing and anxious te vote. There might be these who approved of the course of the admin istratien as comprehensively as the rese lutien expressed it, but he did uet believe that any Democratic official, local, state or national, had ever merited such an uu qualified and sweeping endorse ment from a representative body. It was net fair te the Democrats el the county te ask them te vote for su.h a resolution and it was net fair te the administration te have it voted down. Because he did net believe that any con vent ion should go se far and make sueh a detailed and deep reaching endorsement of each particular act of any public official, he proposed the amendment and would he glad te support the resolution with the words he desired te except stricken out. Mr. Hensel's motion was unanimously adopted and the resolution as amended was pat sad. The convention then adjourned. Delegate! te State Convention. 1. S. W. Altick. 1st ward. H. Smeych, 7th ward.
