In obedience te the directieu of Judge Wylie, the jury in the Star Reute case came into court at 10:35 this morning te receive instructions upon points of law. Before they were seated, however, Jurer Vernen, who had been unwell during the night, fell en the fleer in fits, creating great excitement. He is new under the care of a physician, and the remaining jurors have returned te their room. The Judge's Opinion el tne Injured Man Jurer Vernen, in falling, struck his head heavily upon a chair, but he subsequently fully recovered. Judge Wylie announced that Vernen was a hard drinker and he supposed the cutting off of supplies had lesulted in au attack of delirium tremens. The depiity marshal stated that Vernen was all right. The Judge Talks te tbe Jury. The jury was then ordered te come into court. Iu reply, te questions of the foreman the judge stated that the verdict must be a complete eiip, net based upon a part of the indictment but upon the whole. In the eourse of his remarks the judge intimated that he wanted a verdict of some kind aud that he would net discharge the jury very easily. The jury theu retired. The deputy miirsbul was instructed te allow Jurer Vernen two drinks per day, but te prevent the circulation of a whisky bettle among the jurors.
