The Late Superintendent Spurrier' Funeral, The funeral of George Spurrier, super intendent of the Lancaster county hospi tal, took place from the residence of his son, Alderman A. K. Spurrier, West Vino etreet thiB afternoon at 2 o'clock. There were preliminary service on Sunday evening at the county asylum, conducted by Rev. John Swenk, moral instructor of the county institutions, after which the n mains were removed to AMermanSpurrier'i residence. Messrs. W. F. Hambright, C. A. Buchmiller, Harry Frailey and George Musser, a committee of Lancaster lodgo No. G7, 1. O. O. F. acting as pill-bearers. The funeral services this afternoon wei conducted by Rev. Dr. J. B. Shumaker f Sr. Paul's Reformed church, assisted by Rev. J. Y. Mitchell of the Presbyter 'an church. Tho pall-bearcrs were Jae L. Iloffmcier, Christian Gast, Charles T an n and C. S. Xorwich, 'Conn., Nov. .37 This I morning William Abner, a mulatto, living in Lake street, quarrelled with his wife. He was jealous, and blamed her for being outmgnts. They came to Diowa, ana Abner cut ber fearfully with a razor and then sbot her. She had a nine months old babe in her'arms when ho attacked her, but the babe escaped unhurt. After shooting his wife, Abner shot himself. Surgeons say that neither can recover. They were a young couple, cqch being about 25 years old. Yesterday Hoyt went to Lauren and calling at Bail ey's office again demanded a retraction of tho offensive language Baily ordered Hoyt out of tho oOico and was iu the act of opening a drawer of hii desk when Hoyt shot him with a revolver, inflicting a mortal wound, floyt was arrested. At an early hour this morning a destructive freight wreck occurred on the Northern Central railroad a short distance outside of tho borough limits. Two freight trains mov ing iu opposite directions crashed into each other piling up tho cars iu a confused mass and tearing up the track. Tho fireman of ono of the trains was' badly, though it is thought not fatally hurt. No ono else was injured. The passage trains are transfer iug passengers around the wreck. Anna Minerva Shearer, tho child monstrosity, an object of curiosity to thousands of visitors, died at her parents' residence, Stonersville, yes terday.
