Alse, a Uiewsler spiing piano-box buggy made by Xerbeek & Miley, Lancaster, changed from a Whitney spring, and the fastening marks of the old spring will be seen en the bottom of the buggy. Alse a set of silver mounted harness and two ad ditional bridles one of which was without blinds and had a Kimble icin. The horse belonged te Mr. Stehinian and the buggy te Philip lies--, his fanner. The tiiief must have been acquainted with the prem ises and their contents, or else been a pretty geed judge of harness, as he took a geed bivait stiap from Mr. Steinman's hai uess and attached it te another set be longing te Mr. Uess. Although Mr. Stein man's coachman slept in u:i adjacent build ing he did net hear anything of the thief nor miss the stolen pieperty until this morning. The thief was tracked tewauls Libeity Square, and then Jeit sight of. A reward of $100 is offered for the re turn of the prepcity and the anest of the thief. The residence of Mrs. Mary Snyder, 228 West King street, was the scene last even ing of a brilliant social event in the in;u in;u riage of her daughter, Miss Ida, te Mr. Philip C. Snyder, of the well-known West King street tiimmiug and millinery estab V lishmcut. Cauls had been issued te a very large number and by 9 o'clock the spacious house was ci evrded with invited guests. Shortly after that hour the bridal paity decended from an upper room te the front parlor in the following eidcr : Frauk Miley and Harry Bear, Kdw. Siiydcr, brother of the gioem, and Chas. Weisc, ushers ; Chas. Snyder, brother of the groom, and Mis'. Fanny E. Snyder, of Baltimoie : Jehn ilelmau, of this citv. and Miss Edith C. Rudy, of Schuylkill Haven, Pa.; the bride and gioem. After taking the regulation positions, the simple but impressive Lulhcian service was per formed by ltev. P. W. Greup, el Glen Heck, Pa., brother-in-law of the bride, and the new made man and wife were at once almost overwhelmed with cengratu latiens. The bride looked stiikiiigly beau tiful iu a moirc-autique waist, 'with white passainciitciic, French muslin skirt, with lace inserting and trimmed wih orange blossoms and silver leaves. Shu were also sprays of orange blossoms and carried a bouquet, of delicate flowers. OBIlUAItr. Death el Jehn Kneezel. Jehn Kneezel, au old and well-known resident of this city, died rather suddenly last evening about 9 o'clock at his resi dence, Ne. 24 East Vine stiect. He has sulfeica for two or thiee years past from scveic spells of coughing, and it was dur ing one of these that he died. He was a native of Montgomery eeuuty, where he was born in 1810, and whcie his brother aud two sisters aud two of his daughters still reside. Seme thirty-Qvc years age he came te this eeuuty with Mr. Griffith te take a general superintendence of the horses and transportation of the Safe liar ber iron welks. While at Safe Haiber he mairied Mrs. ttaibaia McMellcn the mother of E. McMcIlen, our present pio pie pio thenotary, and after a live years residence in Safe Harber, icuievcd te Lancaster where he resided until his death. Uefbre his health failed he worked at carpenter ing and bridge building, but for a few years past has been a tipstaff iu our county courts. His funeral will take place Sun day afternoon at 2 o'clock religious ser vices at his late lesidencc ; interment at Woedwaid Hill cemetary. A meeting of the Columbia fire com pany will be held this evening in their parlors. Mr. Christ Senft, a clerk iu Bennett's dry goods stare is ou the sick list. A game of baseball will be played tn tn nierning, game commencing at 8 o'clock, at the head of Locust street, between two picked nines. Last evening while Mr. Win. Pinkeiten, pioprleter of Pinkerton's coach weiks, was wiiting in his office, a coal oil lamp exploded, but was thrown into the street before any damage ceuia ue done. Yesterday morning Mr. Henry Diukte was united in marriage te Miss Laua Nickles, both of Columbia. Last evening a inception was held at the groom's house aud a large number of friends were pre sent. The Citizens' band had been invited and weie present. After playing a couple of selections they sat down te a hand some banquet, te which they did ample justice. The Citizens band have been notified that they must pay room rent or get au au ether place te practice. Fer several months they have had their present reym gratu gratu iteusly.but new for some cause or another they are asked te pay rent. A petition te town council will most likely be sent in, asking permission te practice iu ene of the epcia house rooms. The " Hearts of Oak" company arrived in town this morning. Last night they played at Yerk te a G75 neuse. Al though net se large au audience as that will greet them this evening, yet a fair sized ' houe" is predicted. The treupe is the same one that played here last year, and se pleased our people. While the t loupe's baggage was being hauled from the P. II. R. depot, in crossing at Walnut and Second streets, it was spilled. Only a lew amnies were damaged. Te-uight the Ladies' Aid society of the Presbyterian chuich held the festival in Ce. II. armory, also te-morrow evening. These who wcie piesent last night and saw the young ladies of the Sunday-school go through the " Broomstick drill," were astenis.hed by their perfect drilling. The manual of arms is the same as iu military drill, but instead of going though the mili tary march they have a drill prepared by Capt. Case. The young ladies match like veterans, and reflect much credit upon tl e captain. About a week age Sam Steutzenberger was anested by Oflicer Keech for being drunk and disorderly, and was sent te jail for live days. Mr. James Harsh, an em ployee at Pinkerton's coach works, has prepared a surprise for Sam upon his re turn home. Sam is a shoemaker by trade, and James has made au cfhgy of him placed iu his shoemaker's seat mending an old beet. The likeness is excellent and docs Harsh justice. Around the room painted sigus aic hung with the following inscriptiens: "Just, returned. I la ve been spending my fall vacation with Mr. Weise, Lancaster." Last night about midnight Frank Wit tig broke into a bawdy house back of Frent street, between Walnut and Bridge stieet. and cleaned it out. He at first de manded admission, and upon being re fused, climbed up a pest te the balcony, broke open a window and effected an en trance, lie then ran at the women with a razor aud dreve them out of the house, some being iu a half nude condition. He immediately ransacked thccutiic building, helping himself te whatever he could find in the way of ed ibles and drinkables. After satisfying his huuger and thirst, he un dressed and went te bed. The women who had been " run out " of the house went iu search of au affiecr ami found Olll cer Dyssinger who, upon beiug informed of the state of affairs, immediately went te the house, found Wittig in bed, arrested him and took him te the lockup, where he remained until this morning, when he was taken befeic Squire Frank who committed him te jail for sixty days and put him under $200 bail for a further hearing at ceuit. The lVach Uoteui Read. On Wednesday, Charles R. McCenkey, leceivcr el the middle division of Peach Bettem railroad, presented a petition te the United States circuit court, at Phila delphia, asking for leave te purchase new rails and ties for the read. The petition stated that, by reason of the recent em barrassed financial condition of the read, it has net been kept in proper condition, and the tracks in some place have become very much in need of repair. He asked that $10,000, which had been icalimi since his management, be expended for the puipose mentioned. The work will ic quiic one hundred and twenty-five tens of rails and ten thousand ties. Judge Butler stated that as the read was te change hands in a few months he thought the ex penditure of se large an amount inadvis able at the present time. The petition, however, will be duly considered. flavor's Court. The only ene in the station house this morning was Jehn Butter, the same man whose face yesterday illuminated the back room wcre the cases wcre disposed of. l'cstcrday he paid his costs and again went en the town ; he could net keep out of saloons, but at ence proceeded te lead himself with poison. The result was that lie was compelled te lie down en the cold pavement en Vine street last night, thinking probably that he was in a hotel. Officer Stermfcltz thought Jehn was getting bad lodging, se he removed his body te the station house, where nice ly furnished rooms are provided for just such men as Rutter. Morgan, his wife, for the use of said Mary K. 3Iergan, vs. II. H. Yard, the de fense asked for a non-suit yesterday after noon en the grounds that the assignment f the lease was net according te the statute of fraud. Mr. Brosius spoke for two hours in favor of the neusuit, after which it was granted. Cem'th of Pennsylvania, at the sugges tion of Steinman & Hen3cl, Jehn H. Barnes ct '., vs. Jehn M. Amweg, J. B. Kaufmau and Catheriue and Clayten F. Myers, ad ministrators of Frederick Myers, deceased. The testimenv iu this case showed that in 1872 Henry Oveiseck, a German, lesiding in Pcquea township, died suddenly iu this citv. On the same day Jehn M. Amweg took out letters of administration en his estate. J. B. Kaufman and Fred erick Myers, the latter of whom is new dead, became his sureties in the sum of $000. The inventory en the estate showed the estate te be -worth $1,500. Ne account was filed by Amweg until April 1880. when he did se at the instance of Win. D. Weaver, esq., w'ae had been se emed as counsel for the heirs-of deceased, who came from Germany. Exceptions were filed te this account, and this suit was te recover $374.47, the amount claimed by the plaintiffs te be due. Ainweg is new in Philadelphia ; the suit was brought against the sureties. There was no defense, and the jury ren dered a verdict in favor of the plaintiff for $438. 68, which is the ameuut claimed, with interest. ISelore J mice Livingston. David Z. Lantz vs. Geerge D. & C. P. Mcllvaine, action for damages. In this case the court yesterday afternoon relused te grant a non-suit, and the defense then opened. They claim that there was no negligence en their part aud they cannot be held liable for damages. Their fence around the barn yard, in which the colts were, was as high and secure as any in the neighborhood. A draft of the premises was ettered iu evidence and several wit nesses were examined. Iu obedience te a writ of habeas corpus, Captain How Hew gate was brought into court today. His counsel argued that the additional $10,000 bail imposed en him was excessive and the judge intimated his willingness te re duce it te $10,000. The prisoner's counsel said that as he had already feuud bail in $40,000 this imposition of an additional $10,000 would be practically te commit him te jail, as he could net secure it.
