In conversation with an as sociated press reporter this morning Dr. Eoynten said the slight fever reported last night was net of anygreat consequence. It was transient and of short duration. The patient thus far has net gained much in bodily strength, though hemade a little progress iu that direction yesterday. As te the wound, Dr. Boynton would be better satisfied if it discharged a little mero than it does, but it also has improved. If he continues te impreve he may be moved a week hence and could travel by rail or water. He might possibly be taken first te Leng Branch. 'General Bailey has no particular record which suggests him for the place, nor has he any remarkable abilities te single him out for responsibility. His chief and crowning claim lies in the fact that he was ene of "the Chicago im mortals" the "306" gentlemen who were lest forever iu the confusion of the Chicago explosion last June. But General Bailey combines iu himself just what Senater Cameren has catalogued as the only sound qualifications for public office, namely : Absolute obedience te or ders, including the betrayal of the people's trust ; absolute adherence te the " ma chine," including the denial of rights te these who oppose the same ; absolute ab horrence of henst politics, and abso lute fidelity te the fraud and corruption that is part and par cel of the bosses' system. General Bailey could net be Mr. Cameren's candi date were he net all this. But it is idle for the bosses te contend. The people will win in the end. Senater Davies, who re presents the true Republicans of the state, will be elected. He had the manliness te oppose Senater Cameren's wishes in regard te a senator last winter, because he pos sessed sufficient honor te obey the people who elected him, and whose will is always superior te the will of these chosen as the people s representatives. The following article was voluntarily sent le Mr. II. E. Slaymaker, Agent for ItcigartV Old Wine Stere, by a prominent practising physi cian et this county, who hits extensively used the Brandy referred te In his regular practice It is commended te the attention of theso af flicted with Indigestion and Dyspepsia. BRANDY AS A MEDICINE. This new much abused Alcoholic Stimulant was never intended as a beverage, but te be iimkI as a medicine of great potency in the cu re of some of the destructive diseases which sweep away their annual thousaudsef victims. With a nurelr nliilauthrenlc inelivn w nn sent te the favorable notice et invalids espe cially these alllicted with that miserable dis ease Dyspepsia, a specific remedy, which 13 nothing mere or less than Brandy. The age.l, with fccble appetite ami mere or less debility, will find this simple medicine, when used properly, A Sovereign Remedy or all their Ills and aches. Be It, however strictly understood that we prescribe and us bu t one article, and that Is REIGART'S OLD BRANDY, Sold by our enterprising young friend. II It tLAYMAKER. This Brandy has steed the test for years, and has never failed, as lai as our experience extends, and we therefore give It the preference ever all etner Brandies no matt er with hew many jaw-breaking French titles they are branded. One-fourth of the money that Is yearly thrown away en various Impotent dyspepsia specifics would sutllce te buy all the Brandy te cure any such ease et ases. In proof of Uie curative powers of Keigart's Old Branay, Inca&cset Dyspepsia, we can summon mini hers of witnesses one case in particular we cite: A hard-working farmer had been uflllcu-u with an exhaustive Dyspepsia for a number of years; his stomach would reject almost every kind of feed; he had sour eructatiens con stantly 110 appetite in fact, lie was obliged te restrict his diet te crackers and stale bread, and as a 1-everage he used McGrann's Reet Beer. He Is a Methodist, and then, as new S reached ut times, and in his discourse:) often eclaiined earnestly against all kinds of strong drink. When advised te trv Reisrart's Old Brandy, lu his case, he looked up with astenlsumcnt, but after hearing et its wonderful cflcets in the cases of some of his near acquaintances, he at last consented te fellow our advice. He used the Brandy faithfully and steadily; the tirst bottle giving him an appetite, and bclere the second was taken he was a sound man, with a stomach capable of digesting anything which hejehese te cat. He still keens it and uses a lit tie occasionally; and since lie has this medi cine he has been of very little pecuniary bene lit te t he doctor. A Puactisike 1'hthicm t. Aithur'd Accession Discussed. ' Washington, D. C, Sept. 1. New that the president's eventual convalescence seems assured, the subject of executive business is again discussed, and in connec tion therewith the feasibility of Arthur acting as prcsidcut until Garfield's recov ery. Although it is positively known, no cabinet meeting has been held or called te discuss the subject, yet it is acknowledged by cabinet officers, that (several informal exchanges of opinion have taken place, anu it has been found that grave differ ences exist as te the wisdom of such action. It is safe te say, therefore, that at present this step will net be advised by the cabinet. Seuth while THK IlLKSSED RAIN. of the Western H. E. Una-stlieti'c Seuth Africans. A resident of Grahamstown. Africa, Mr. Abbett, ettered a little age te ornament the walls of the town hall by placing a dado round the skirting and when his generous offer was reported te the town council an animated discussion arose as te what a dado really w;is. After a number of conjectures had been hazarded, the mayor suggested that it must be "an ecclesiasti cal term "something between an alb and a rercdes, we suppose. This suggestion fell flat, whereupon a Im. Kebcrts cor rected the mayor, and aired his own archi tecture te the effect that a dado " was neither au ecclesiastical term nor a vestment out was a wooden skirting about four feet nigh with a cornice at the top." Roberts was promptly snubbed iu his turn, and permission was finely voted te the public spirited Mr. Abbett te put the thing up, whatever it might be. and let the city fathers sec for themselves hew they liked it. Fires lu the Oil DiHlrlct. The oil country is being scourged with a series of destructive fires. Last night sparks from a locomotive en the Kendall & Eldrcd railroad set fire te an oil well near Baker's Trestle. The drought has made- scarcity of water, and the lire is still raiu' threatening wholesale destruction of oil property. Ferest fires are raging at vari ous points near Bradford.
