These of the excursionists who returned home last evening speak J, praise of its successful management ader'the pleasure they enjoyed at the seashore. The train, with nearly .ISO en beard, arrived at Phil adelphia en time, at the Market street depot, where a number of cars were iu waiting te take them te the ferry, whence they crossed the Delaware in a steamer and wcre seen crossing New Jersey, and ar rived at Atlantic City but little behind time They passed the day in the usual way, but a great many did net take the expected "dip" en account of the cool ness of the water. At 0:20 p. m. the traiu left en its return trip, the majority going te Philadelphia, there te stay ever te-day, but a great many came home last night, the train arriving heie at 1 a. in. Anether carriage that fol lowed seen afterward, took in the injured woman and her companion, aud the broken carriage was taken away by the men, who said they would meet the ether paity at llarnihli'.s station. A Killing t'drty. The old-time custom of ladies and gen tlemcii forming themselves into a party te take a riilc en horseback, has been revived in the eastern end of the county. Last evening the following paity, under the management of Mr. II. L. Eckcit, started from Paradise : Harry L. Eckcit aud Miss Rctta Harding ; Goe. M. "Weeds and Miss Maggie Eckcrt ; J. She escaped without serious injury, although that no bones were broken was net the fault of the driver, who was said te have been racing at the time of the accident. Revive Your Judgments. It would be well for these who held judgments entered upon our county dockets te remember that they cease te be liens en real estate unless revived within five years from their dates. This fact is gcucrally known, but an erroneous impression pre vails with many persons that their judg ments are kept alive by the payment of interest. Charm Cost. Yesterday afternoon while Officer Ceyle was attempting te arrest a drunken man at the corner of Seuth Queen and Church street, a geld mounted seal containing a stone, one side of which was white and the ether red, with ajraiscd flower upon it was pulled from his wateh chain and lest. Tba Courant does net take kindly te the new ordinance before council, relative te the pavements as a thoroughfare for push carts, trucks and oilier vehicles of the same description. The Courant thinks the calling of the peer man is being operated agaiust, and cites the case with which the millionaire may be i oiled through thestreet in his luxurious carriage. This, however, does net convince any one that these same trucks and push-carts are net exactly what council consider them a nuisance ; that is when en the pavements. Off the pavements they are all right and de no injury te any one, but when en the pave ments they are forever in the way aud causing inconvenience te somebody. We arc glad that the ordinance has been laid before councils and we hepe te see it pass, aud, wc believe it will pass at the next meeting. Picnic sit Dully'.- J'ark. He was promptly arrested and convicted in July last. Seme et the Letters anil Postal Curds Which Are Addressed te Him. Guiteau has been eugaged in writing up his life, which he says will make a book of 500 pages and the episode of yesterday morning seems net te have interfered greatly with his wetk. In the pages he wrete yesterday, and which were handed te the officer, he speaks of " the Iato President Garfield," and writes of Mr. Ar thur as "President of the United States." This impression he has doubtless get from the guards, having been doubled aud the general aspect of affairs about the jail. Tlie mail for the assassin is about equal te that of a member of Congress. There has recently accumulated half a peck of postal cards and letters. Se many come it is suspected the parties take this means of advertising their business, ex pecting their communications will be made public through the papers. Among the postal cards received ene postmarked Springfield, O., reads as fellows : " Charles Guiteau, I will give you $500 per night te lecture after you have served eight years in Dry Tortugas ? Will adver tise you as the Great Unhung, but will net be responsible for the caprices of Judge Lynch." Anether from Ceibicana, Texas, is as fellows : "Charlie, yen hard-hearted old villain, I wish you te come te Texas and try your hand en an old fogy we have here. It would be doing a little geed for the evil you have done te an innocent man." Anether from Viuceuncs, Ind., has a pen picture representing a hanging bce with the follewing: " Le, Eureka ! Bang gees the trap, and you go te h 1 !" Anether represents a steam engine, se geared as te pull Guiteau, with ropes at tached te hands and feet. Guiteau is rep resented as crying: "Stalwarts." heln. and en it is written: " Yeu have ue beard bill new, and I sup pose you are happy." The devil is represented with a barrel ready inscribed, patiently waiting, " I'm coming." Anether has a coffin inscribed, " Sacred te the memory of C. J. G., as sassin aud villain," under which is, " Charles J. Guiteau's proper resting place." Anether from "Brimstone quar ries, 15th August," is as fellows : " Comrade Guiteau, my heart swells with emotion when I witness the persecu tion you are compelled te endure. Yeu did my bidding nobly and, verily, you shall have your reward, such only as I am accustomed te bestow upon my faithful agents. Should you need anything further te render your present condition mere endurable, I will send seven legions of little black angels armed with red-het pincers te make it pleasant for you. Yours until death, when we will have a happy reunion. Satan." ' A card from Mrs. F. M. Scevillo in Chicago was received by Warden Crocker. She wrete te inquire about him, saying that the papers had ceased te speak of him. This postal-card was shown te Guiteau by General Crocker. Guiteau said it was genuine, and added : " Inform ray sister that I am well and am praying daily for tbe recovery of the president, and that I regret my deed. Don't let her knew of the occurrence of this morning, as that is past and is of no consequence." MJMKETX. Philadelphia market. Pmi.ADKi.rHiA, August 19.
