Te Prevent the IinHi--- of Horses. American Agriculturist ler February 1. When the suew upon th". mails is co hesive and paeks firmly, it . "i:ts upon the feet of horses, furiiiiti - . mI, pro jecting mass, in a manner k . s "ball ing." This of ten occurs t . i an ex tent as te impeile the moiie:: ... he horse, while it causes the animal );:cat cliseo:n clisee:n cliseo:n fert, and is seinetime". tiaiiyimis te tlia rider or driver. The trouble- may be pre vented very easily by the use of gutta percha. Fer this purpose the jjutta jjutta percha should lie crude i. c, net mixed with any tiling e. m;tniiiai.tiired in any mint or, but just as. import ed. Its application depends upon the property which the jjtim has of seftenitir and becoming plastic by heat, and hanlm ing again when cold. Te apply it, place the gutta-percha in het water until it be comes soft, and having well-cleaned the feet, removing whatever has accumulated between the shoe and hoof, take a piece of the softened gum and prcs it against the shoe and feet in Mich a m-ainer as te fill the angle- between the shoe and the hoof, taking care te force it into the crack be tween the two. Thus tilling the crevices, and the space next the shoe, where the snow most firmly adhcies, the ball of snow lias nothing te held it, and it cither does net form, or drops out as seen as it is gathercd. When the gutta por per cha is applied, and well smoothed oft" with the wet fingers, it may be hardened at once, te prevent the horse from gettitig it out of place by stamping, by the applica tion of snow or ice. or mere slowly by a wet sponge or cloth. When it is desired te remove the gum, the application el het water by means of a spouse or cloth will se soften it that it may be taken oil'. As the softening and hardening may be re peated indefinitely, the same material will last for years. Fer a horse of medium size, a quarter of a pound is sufficient for all the feet. Having tested this applica tion last winter, aud thus far the present season, we can recommend it as thoreugly efficacious in preventing one of the great est annoyances of snow. IMP "I Dnn't Wan'tu I'laster," said a sick man te a druggist.
