Tliu State of Ilia Hivcr. The ice has moved at Baldwin ; the river is rising four inches per hour at Col Cel lins and an inch an hour at Columbia. The warm weather of the past couple of days is certainly telling upon the solidity of the sheet of ice before us. and unless the weather changes within the next couple of days a bivak-up is inevitable. Since yesterday the river has been rising fast and there has been no let-up tlm morning. It is reported that last night's rise at Ma rietta is fully 2 feet. The ice has moved from a point m front of the Henry Clay furnace, but from the da:n te the tunnel it is still apparently firm. Just where the ice which moved has gene te is a quo quo lien. The Susqueliauna at Columbia remained firmly ice-bound this morning, though the river had risen two or three feet. It was thought it would require a six-feet. rise te break the ice. Te- day a great deal of ice and water have been coming down from the Cocalico and Muddy creeks tributaries of tha Conestoga. The Cocalico is said te be very high and much gorged iu the vicinity of Ephrata.
