OUR SOLDIERS — WE regret to learn that Captain Wakefield of the 49th I was wounded in a battle on Thursday ! last near Richmond. Capt. A. Boyd Hutchinson was also wounded in the breast on the same day. Captain W. B. Weber of tho Logan Guards left yesterday to rejoin his command. John Arbogast of tho 49th, with a I - flesh wound in the left arm, isathomo lon furlough. Lieut. Dick Parker is at home on a visit. Horatio Xorris is at present at Judge Wilson's, discharged from the service after a two years honorable campaign in the southwest. George Bolinger and Samuel Bow ersox, of the Logan Guards, were kill ed, and a son of Jonas Kauffman, de ceased, wounded in Georgia during tho advance of Gen. Sherman into that State. THIEVING. —Wo had been in a great measure free from thefts, except on a small scale for sometime, hut of late housebreaking has become quite com mon by sundry candidates for the pen itentiary. Nathan Kennedy's store room was entered on Wednesday night of last week and a quantity of linen, muslin, some S7O in money, ifee. were taken. Marks & Willis's Steam Mill, M Atee's Lewistown Mill, Blymyer's warehouse, Zerbe's store, and several other places have also been visited by the midnight gentry, apparently in search of money. Suspicion rests up on several parties, though so far no clue has been obtained to warrant the apprehension of any one. Among the articles known to be ta ken from Mr. Kennedy's store are the following : 3 parts of piece? bleached muslin. 3 pieces of good Irish linen. 1 piece of white flannel, 13 or 14 yards. 4 pair of boots. 1 piece Kentucky jeans. 1 piece paper muslin, white. A bank note believed to be on Jacksonville hank. Na, which Mr. Kennedy signed as President in je*t. Two s'a on Northampton bank (broken). Some 10's and s's Lewistown bank. 25 cent shinplaster of McVeytown borough A liberal reward will be paid for any information which will lead to the recovery of the goods or conviction of the thief or thieves. Adams died in the Har risburg Asylum on the 3d May, aged 57 years. She was well known in this county as an inmate of the Alms ' House for many years, her mind hav- ! ing been affected with that insanity j which at times manifested itself in an- i ger and mischief, and at others in a j courteous demeanor worthy of a refin j ed lady. She was well informed, quick at repartee and sarcasm, and hut for her unfortunate malady might have been an ornament in any household. ! Life's fitful fever o'er we trust she 4 ! sleeps well. 'The application must state, bv endors- - i nient at the head or on the back the name of the soldier, his company and regiment. 3d. Two or three men ought not to act for an entire bt-rmigh or tow nship in signing the j certificate of recommendation as deserving the relief. 4th.
