Bon rid Circulation Larger than tbat of any Weekly Newspaper In the Conn, Politically, the honorable Mlckoy Cnssldy is a dead lettor. Ho was at bis own funeral last Monday. These is iiardlt a Republican in Carbon county who can't afford to take a hearty laugh at the Democratio situation. It's amusing. It is Blaine, ir it is anybody. Ponn aylvania Is as loyal in hor allegiance to the groat statesman as she4s great and grand in extent. The Democrats aduse of Judgo Price, is uncalled for and unwarranted. The Judgo is an estimable gontlemon and a better Democrat then Rnuch over could be. The newly aptointed Domocratlo County Committee will moot in tho Court Ilouse at Mauch Chunk, Satur day, 22nd, for the purposo of electing a new county chairman and to transact such other buslnoss as may come bof ore the meeting. Tho now committeemen should turn out on masse. At Habbisburq on Wednesday, tho Republicans nominated David McM. Qregg, of Berks county, for Auditor General; J. W. Morrison, of Allegheny, for State Troasuror, and Louis Watrss for Chairman of the State Committee, This is just a little bit of a black eye for our friend, Senator Quay. By malicious misrepresentation tho Lansford Record expects to gain a point against tho eandldaoy of Qeorgo Esser. It won't work, people who know the trustee and road the Record have no faith in the puppet or organ of the puppets. Either or both stand out like the hand writing on the wall People who aro wise, leavo both ulono. As IT draws near tho time for hold ing the delegato election, Jonathan Kistler, of town, who is a candidate for sheriff, increases in strength. Ho will get a big Toto here tho common peoplo who have been threatened with this orJ that, intend to vote for him in order to show that they aro not affraid of those who threaten their position. Right I There is one thing to the credit of the anti-Essor faction, who created such a racket at the county meeting on Monday, and that is this: They don't nor won't deny that it was a premedi tated schomo to get control of the meet ing and the organization. The out burst of fooling was more than they ox pectedjthey thoughtbycarrylng things with a high hand would bring tho Esserites to submission. But tho out rage was too evident, and oven some of those who were with the combination would not look with favor ontho scheme Result the purifiers aro weakening. They can't explain away Monday's dis graceful affair. DEHOCRATSJH DISCORD. Majority Sentiment Strangled liy Rank Boss Rule. A Wild Scene of Confnslon. Intelligent Democrats Loose their Heads Curses fill the Air Fandemonla Bnns WIW-A Wicked Scheme to break the Xsser forces The Court Ilause Cloak Ahead of Time Two Presiding Officers and Separate Sets of Bloctlon Ufflcessand Committee. The Music Only Com tneneed. As far baok in tho history of the oldest Democrat in Carbon county no aoeno can bo recalled to equal that of last Monday's Democratic County Meeting in the Court House at Mauch Chunk. Tho room was llttorallypaokod by Esser and antl-Esser adherents when at ten minutes before one (ten minutes before tho time for the meet ing) County Chairman Michael Cassldy suddenly rose, called the assembly to order and asked for nominations for chairman of the meeting. E. IL Rauch putbeforo the meeting tho name ofE. R. Enbody, andbef oro a dissenting voice could be raised he was declared elected by the wily intriguers. Then commenc ed a scene of the wildest discord, in telligent and peaceful Democrats be came frantlo under the deliberately planned and diabolically executed scheme to choke off the majority. All efforts of Esser men to gain an audience were denied. No wonder then that there followed tho frantic, riot-like scene. Tho venerable Judge Price had presented tho name of DlstrictAttorney Fisher as chairman, but under the systematized agroemont of the cotnbl nation it was unrecognlzod. A recon aideratlon of the vote was called for but it suffered tho same fate. All efforts of the Esser forces to gain a partial recognition was bo much time lost, until Anally a division of the voters was mode Esser men moving to the right and tho combination forces going to the left, thon the fraud be. came apparent and with a mlguty huzzah that shook the old Court House to the roof, Fisher was declared Chair man by the majority; but the combina tion refused to recognize him and Knbody was continued in the chair. The meeting that followed was one of the wildest confusion, din and noise. George W. Mortblmer, Percy Faust and John O'BtAan were declared tho secre taries; Judge Price, of Mauch Chunk, and J, J. Gallagher, of Beaver Meadow, vice presidents. On the part of tho combination E. IL Rauch, of Mauch Chunk, and james w, malloy, of Lans ford, acted as secretaries. Both forces prepared lists of delegate election officers and county committee men, and diafted resolutions. This paper has ao part to shield in the affair and we desire to state tho facts just as they occurred so that an intelligent and peaceful community con decide the tight and wrong in this matter. Michael Cassldy, who could have settled the wholo difficulty by a word, was impregnable to tho appeals xf those .present and chiefly to Urn lies the blame for Monday's dlsgraoerul affair though in tho vjhole business was tho hands of sueh men as Kioto, Rauoh and others of tholr ilk, who to-day poso as tho purlflors of Domooraoy. Wad thoro over any thing more thoroughly dis graceful and dosorvlng of publio con tempt? Lot our roadors Imaglno several hundrod men pockod In a room and a deliborato outrogo on tho peoplo perpetrated. The thought makes tho blood run hot, but to bo faco to faco with tho dood is moro than human naturo can contend with. Thbro Is not an oxouso for the outbreak of fooling. When 11 was hurled across tho conti nent that Thomas B. Reed, Spoakor of tho House of Representatives, was throttling tho mlnlorty, thoro was a roll of disapproval as loud and long as thunder, but tho action of Chairman Cassldy was moro contemptible and disgracofuL It was deliborato prosti tution of the will of tho majority and an ovident machination of a set of politicians who havo won the contempt of decont people. When tho heat of tho battlo rolls away thoso who partlci patod in tho affair will no doubt bo oshamod of tho part thoy played in the jugglery. Following adjournment tho street bocamo tho battlo ground and angry crowds gathered on tho corners and discussed tho shameful prooood ings and anticipated tho result which cortalnly Is not yet. On the day of tho delegato election will' follow another clash and thon tho convention but draw you own conclusions. We nro but giving you cold facts as they oo currod, and we hope they will never bo repeated in either party. We follow with tho election otilcors and commit tees: Delegate lilectlori Officers.
