The grain and hay crop was not so abundant in the county in twenty years. The Plam Grove school district, east of Centre Hall, has about one square mile of territory. Benjamin Arney, & farmer in that district, has made an estimate of the wheat fields in the die- trict, and estimates their yleld will be over 11,000 bushels. The Centre Hall Lutheran Sabbath School room, having been remodeled, will be dedicated next Bunday morn- ing with appropriate services. ————— A A ——— Peon Stats is First College To Have Boy Farm Oamp, After ten days intensive work on the college farme, 800 schoolboys from various parts of the Biate completed thelr course and were sent out last week to relieve labor situations in sag- ricultural districts, This was the first farm trhining camp conducted by any college in the country. Another de- tachment of (qual siz» started a simi- lar course on Monday. Farmers from ali scctions have ex- preseed approval of the preliminary ipstruction given their schoolboy workers. Truck growers in the vicin- ity of Philadelphia are well pleased with the boys sent to their assistance that they are pleading fo additional help trained at the Pennsylvania State College. Many boys were sent directly from the college camp to farms because of the urgent labor need. —— i — pe —————— Big Fire at Cieartioid. Fire which presumably started in the cloak room on the second flour of the building cccupled by the Clear- fleld Hardware Company, destroyed property to the value of $50,000 Wed- pesday night of last week. Discovery of the blazs was made at about 10.30, and the firemen quickly reached the scene, but the flames bad gotten under considerable head way and it was one o’clock before the fire wae under control, Oue of the firemen was overcome by the smoke and heat and was carried away unconscious. Anns Fohrioger came home week to spend a short time. Mrs. David Young and sons, Lowell and Rowe, of Mifflin county, spent Sunday with friends at this place.
