Keller's near by, who hastened to the stable and found Mr. Smith lifeless but yet warm; his body was at once carried to the house, and Dr. Alexander was sent for. An ex- amination showed severe foot marks of the cow upon the abdomen, chest and over the heart of the unfortunate man, as well as & bruise over the pit of the stomach which was not from the cow's feet. The supposition is that Mr. Smith, standing between two cows, and endeav- oring to apply something to the sore. eye of the one, caused her to thrust her head around. striking him in the pit of the stomach and he fell stunned under the other cow, where he was trampled to death, Mr. Smith, had only lived upon the place since last spring; was married out two vears ago to a daugh- ter of D. Krape, of Haines twp., and was a good citizen, He wasa man of large build, hearty, and 30 years of age. His remains were taken to Asronsburg for burial. His parents reside near Laurel: ton, -A man in Ramey, Clearfield county, fell from a trestle about twelve feet from the ground, the other day, and broke his neck. In ordinary cases instantaneous death would have resulted, but in this instance the man was not killed and the attending physician thinks he will ulti- mately recover. He is compelled to wear a kind of muslin band around his neck with lugs on each side to which is attach- ed a rope that runs through a pully fixed to the cealing of the room.
