The fire started lu the westerly end of the building, and, owins to its peculiar construction, a draft was continually pass ing through the place, which caused the flames to spread very rapidly, enveloping the entire structure. When the tire was first discovered a telephone message was sent to the ower house to turn the cur rent on. in older to run out the tweut tive cars that were in the sheds. This was immediately done, but so rapid was the progress of the flames that bv the time the current was on the wires had been burned through, and the watchmen and others w bo hat arrived at the scene of the fire were unable to save but three cars and ahorse lx-longing to the superintendent, w hich w as stabled in the sheds.
