BANNER SALVE the most healing salve In the world CAMERON COUNTY PRESS, THURSDAY, MARCH 23, 1905. A PROMOTION FOR FRAZIER Tennessee's Governor Is Nominated to Succeed the Late Sen ator Bate. Nashville, Tenn., March 16. —Gov. j James B. Frazier was on Wednesday ! afternoon nominated for United States j senator by the democratic caucus of j the state legislature to succeed the I late William B. Bate. The vote was | by acclamation, no other name being | presented to the caucus. When that j body convened it was supposed the ; contest was to be a three-cornered | one, friends of ex-Govs. Benton Mc | Millin and Robert L. Taylor having i been actively at work in their interest. A test vote came, however, in an ef ! fort to adjourn the caucus until Mon j day next. The motion was defeated — I 3G to 04—and it was apparent that the j Frazier forces were in the ascend | ancy. Senator McLaurin announced | the withdrawal of ex-Gov. Taylor from | the race and a similar announcement j on behalf of Mr. McMillin was made ;by Senator Ligon. Gov. Frazier's I nomination followed amidst much en thusiasm. Gov. Frazier's election is assured, as the legislature is very largely demo cratic. Ex-Bankers are Indicted. Buffalo, N. Austin, Tex., March 16. —A tele phone message received here says that last night there was a terrific waterspout at Lufkin, 40 miles above this city, cnusing the water to rise in the river and surrounding creeks at that point 14 feet in five minutes, catching half a dozen campers in the bottoms and drowning two of them, four barely escaping with their lives.
