Dr. Eveland of the Metho dist Episcopal Church, preached the annual memorial sermon to the members of Ent Fost G. A. R. and the order of Sons of Veterans, Sun day morning. The audience was a very large one, the spacious church being filled. Rev. Eveland preached an excellent sermon, tak ing his text from the ninth chapter of Deut., fourth verse. A very pleasing feature of the service was the music. Tue cnoir rcnaerea Kipling's "Recessional," "Falling One by One" was sung by Mrs. llarrv Barton. Mrs. Alfred Hower, F. B. Hartman and O. H. Yetter Another quartette composed of F. B. Hartman. II. S. Barton, F. P. Ever and O. II. Yetter, rendered 'Cover Their Graves With the Truest ot Flowers," and the' whole congregation rose and joined in singinc "America." It was a very fittins climax to a very beautiful and impressive service. Memorial Day. All the preparations incident to the observance of Memorial Day have been completed, and orders eovernine the exercises have been issued by Ent Post G. A. R. The day will be observed as a half holiday in town. Nearly all of the business places will close at noon and remain closed the balance of the day. The programe com plete follows : Forenoon Memorial Day. Comrades will meet -in their hall at 8 A. M. and start for Alraedia Cemetery by trolley at 8:30. The Post and Sons of Veterans will assist sccieties, schools and citizens of Espy and Almedia to decorate at Vauderslice Cemetery and all the graves except the circle in the old Rosemout Cemetery in the forenoon. Afternoon. Ent Post 250. G. A. R., Sons of Veterans and all patriotic societies and fire companies will assemble on North Market Street at 2:00 p M. sharp. Led by the Bloonisburg Cornet Band the parade will march down Main to West, out West to Third, up Third to Market, up Market to Main, up Main to Town Hall and countermarch back to Center, up Center to Cemetery where the following Services will beheld. ., Prayer by Rev. R. H. Sawtelle Reading, President Lincoln's ad dress at Gettysburg, by A. Bruce Black. G. A. R. and Sons of Veterans Memorial Service. The handsome new church erect ed at a cost of $52,000 by the First Methodist Episcopal congre gation of Berwick was dedicated with impressive services on Sunday. Bishop C. C. McCabe preached the dedicatory sermon in the morning, and afternoon there was a Sunday School rally and young peoples' meeting, which was conducted by the superintendent, S. W. Dickson. Brief addresses were made at the services by the former pastors of the church. At the evening service the sermon was rendered by the Rev. W. W. Evans, presiding elder ot the Dan ville district, and there were ad dresses by Joseph Powell, lay evan gelist, of Buffalo, N. Y. Mrs. Powell sang several solos at the day's services. The pastor of the church, the Rev. Richard H. Gilbert, to whose efforts the success in raising funds for the new edifice is mainly due, announced that Epworth League, and other special services will be held this week. Among the clergy wno took part in these are Bishop Thomas Bowman, the Rev, Richard Henkill, the Rev. Benja min Mosser, the Rev. L. T. Tomp- kinson, the Rev. Samuel Barnes and the pastor. The seating ca pacity of the new building is 1 100 Resolutions of Respect. Following are resolutions ot res pect that were adopted by the mem t ers of Class Number Nine of the Methodist Sunday School: Whereas the hand of affliction has fallen heavily upon the home of of our classmate and brother, Otis Herring, in the removal therefrom by death most sad and untimely, of his daughter Mable; therefore be it Resolved: That we do extend to him and family our most profound and sincere sympathy in their great sorrow: that we affectionately com mend them to our Heavenly Father, who, in our hours of heaviest trials and suflering.alone can give us grace and strength to bear such burdens; and that we assure them ot our prayers to Almighty God for that sustaining faith that will enable them to say "Thy will be done.'
