George Farver,- a well known resident of Jackson township, died at his home Saturday noon after a lingering illness. He was aged 67 years, 8 months and 4 days and is survived by two daughters, Mrs. G. W. Ruckle, of Berwick, Mrs. Fran W. Manning, of Derrs, and two sons, Reuben T., of Lancaster, and Tustin, at home. The teachers ap plied to the board for a two weeks vacation on the ground that twenty two out of the twenty-eight teach ers desired to accompany the Nor mal School excursion to Washing ton next week, and their request was granted. Now it appears that only six of them are going to Wash ington, and the school board feels that it has been trifled with. will not be safe for the Danville teachers to ask any favors of the board very soon. . Freeze, and for the defendant Hon. S. P. Wolverton, of Sunbury. In years past Messrs. Ricketts and Wolverton were in attendance at nearly every session of the Colum bia county court, but this is their first appearance here for some time. Every ordinance of the town is constantly in force, and its opera tion cannot be suspended by a reso lution of the council. The only way to suspend an ordinance is to repeal it. If the council refuse or neglect to enforce an ordinance, they can be compelled to do so by mauda mus. A resolution directing that any particular ordinance shall be enforced, would imply that all ordi nances of the town are dead letters unless they are resurrected by spec ial order.
