Cal vitch, B. Runn and.M. Gomiski sworn. This case was the result of a scrap which had its beginning in Joseph Calvitch's saloon in Centralia one evening in the latter part of Septem ber. The prosecutor John Laurenz, it appears, had allowed his congenial inclinations to get the best of him, and entering the restaurant, proceed ed to have rough house. He was or dtted out, but paid no heed to the command, and was ejected. He-claimed to have been hit with a black jack, without just cause or provocation. The case was submitted to the jury without argument. Commonwealth vs. VV. F. Adams. Embezzlement. Case continued by agreement. Commonwealth vs. J. H. Powlus. Larceny. Defendant pleads guilty. The defendant told how and what prompted him to commit the crime. Some pigs were on the verge of starva tion,' and in order to appease their hunger, he took some corn and fed them. Since his confinement in iail. he had experienced a turn of mind, and by the help of God he proposed to live an upright life.
