Bloomsburg, June 1, 1891. 6 5 3t. MIFFLINVILLE. Rev. Bair came up from Selinsgrove Saturday eve and preached for the people in the School house near Het lerville. Our Furniture dealer Mr. Berninger is constantly getting in and sending out goods. The attendance at the Ladies League meeting was quite large Satur day evening and after the routine bus iness was completed, the audience was entertained by an elegant pro gramme of recitations, select readings, instrumental and vocal music, assisted greatly by the famous male quartette of Bloomsburg, Messrs. Yetter, Yost, Ent and Colly. El Sweppenhiser is attending Luth eran Synod at Williamsport this week as delegate. Mr Jacob Nuss is the oldest man in the township being almost 83 years old and is real active, works nearly every day and walks two and three miles to the store and shop. He never wore glasses and can see tolerably well at present, and his hair is nearly , all black yet. The Committee in charge of the Band Festival on the 19th and 20th are working to make it the greatest occasion of the season. While Jacob Fenstermaker of Main Township was hauling coal from this place Monday one of nis horses fed dead in the road. WALLER. Miss Joe Vanderslice, of Blooms burg is visiting her cousins the Messrs. Yorks near here. Ira Everhart took a trip to Berwick last Saturday and will be gone a few days visiting relatives and friends in tJiat section. There will be a festival held at this place on next Saturday afternoon and evening, June 13. John Lunger of this township was severely injured last week by falling from a building which he was engaged in roofing. Mrs. Mary Hess, Alverda Everhart, Ella Thompson, Messrs. Charles Ev erhart, Alfred Hess, and William Butt, are at present rusticating among the mountain lakes. Asa Yorks has returned from a visit tohis son Philip, who is now engaged in- lumbering in Center county. The School directors had a tie vote or the question of placing a Webster's Dictionary in each of the schools. We are informed that the equal vote was undoubtedly caused by some old fogies, who got their "larnin" without ever knowing anything about a dictionary, and expect their posterity to be as smart and intelligent as themselves, which theory they will perhaps live to see exploded. Poisons in Cosmetics- It seems to be the fashion for young ladies with pimples and blotches on their faces to make experiments with various cosmetics. Madame Fiffypaffy advertises her foreign-named com pound,, composed of a combination of poisonous mineral substances that deaden and burden the delicate substances of the skin. There are no complexions like those that nature gives. The tonic, strengthening unci healthgiving effects of Swift's Specific (S. S. S.) permit nature to work her will in this respect, as thousands of ladies, both young and old,, have discovered. The cheapest and most beautiful complexions de Bend on health and vigor. It is the fT,,.. f Cubit's Isnerific (S. S. S.) tO give vigor and tone and health to the system, and in this way to give lustre to the eye and roses to the cheeks. ARABIAN PBAVKll.
