Our deceased friend was a fast prisoner to a disease of protracted "and intense sufferings, during the lutter years of bis life. For many months he was deeply sensible of bis daily sink ing with weakness. He felt, and bim 4elf, as "being suffered by Providence to continue in that condition, that he might be perfected through such trials and be prepared for eternity." His patience, and resignation to that will were well marked by all who had the privilege of con versing with him in last days. But at length the long looked for hour came, and he departed from the troubles of the flesh and entered on his rest. He was a consistent member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church —and much esteemed and loved by a large circle of friends and acquaintances, as the uncsua.l attendance, that followed bis remains to their last resting place, testifies.
