SASBATH SCHOOL PIC Ntc.—About four
months since a few persons, anxious for the
Glory of the Kedeemer and for the good of
those around them, established a Union
Sabbath School at Maj. Burn's School House
in .luniatia Tp. Into this school about forty
children have been gathered, many of whom
never saw such a school before.
Under the Superintendeuey of Mr. McKin
ney the school has prospered, the attendance
of the scholars has been regular, a good
work is evidently being done and those who
undertook it, have much reason to be encour
aged.
For the benefit of the scholars a Pic Xic
was given on Thursday Sept. 19th in a shady
grove near the school house. As the day was
fair, the surroundings inviting, the scene
novel, old and young appeared on the ground
at an early hour, prepared for the enjoyments
of the day.
Seats were arranged for the school and a
stand erected fur the speakers. The exer
cises v. ere opened with singing and prayer.
Shu. t addresses were theu delivered by Bev s
N. H. Skyles and J. H. Donaldson. After
which those present quartered around a ta
ble bountifully spread by the friends of the
school and when all were fed, there were
taken tip of fragments some baskets full.
iVheu the provisions were discussed, "the
children of larger and smaller growth" scat"
tered about among the trees to spend the re
mainder of the day as inclination and circum
stances might suggest. ONE PRESENT.

Liver Complaint, for Exhaustion, Weakness,
for a want of Appetite, and for Mental De

is equally adapted to young and old. Persons
of sedentary habits, like clergymen, lawyers,

The Truth about Dyspepsia.
Whoever says that dyspepsia is incurable, tells |
a —that is to say, make- an egregious mistake.
More than ten thousand aggravated cases have
been cured by HOSTKTTER'S STOMACH BIT.
TEIiS, white the number that have boon prevent
ed frum coming to a head, by the same means, is |
incalculable. In this season ol' tho year, when
the appetite is sometimes too vigorous for the :
comfort an I safety of tbe stomach, indigestion is
inost prevalent and most distressing. Is the appe
tite to be balked o accommodate the digestive or
gans? Not so; for then the frame would lack its
due proportion of nutriment. The thing to bo
done is to STRFROTHIX THE HTOMAOH, tone the
liver, and put the bowels in perfect or ler. Noth
ing will do this so effectually, so rapidly, so qui
etly, so pleasantly, as lIOBTKTTKIt'S BIT
TER'S. This potent preparation trims and bal
ances the syftem, and clothes it as it were, with
defensive armor. <'hronic dyspepsia, liver com
plaint, and fever and ague rue never known to at
tack those who are wise enough to invoke the aid
ofthis great preventive. octl
l>r Srhrnck's Pulmonic Syrup.
This great medicine eared by Dr. J. 11. 8c he nek
the proprietor, of Pulmonary Consumption, when
speedy death appeared tu be inevitable, liis phy
sicians pronounced bis case incurable, when he
| commenced the use of this simple but powerful ,
remedy, liis health was restored iu a very short
time, end no return of the disease has been uppre
''
handed, for all the symptoms quickly disappear- !
ed, and his present weight is more than two hun
dred pounds.
Since his recovery he has devoted his attention
exclusively to the care of Consumption, and tin
diseases which are usually complicated with it, and
the cures effected by his medicines have 1 It-en very
numerous and truly wonderful. Dr. Bchcnck
makes professional visits to several of the larger
cities weekly, where he has large concourse of pa
tient', and it is truly astonishing to sec poor con
sumptives that have to be lifted out of their car
riages, and in a few months healthy, robust per
sons. Dr. Scbcnek's Pulmonic Syrup, Sea Weed j
Tonic and Mandrake Pills arc generally ail re
quired in caring Consumption. Full directions
accompany each, so that any one can take tbem
without seeing Dr. Schenck, but when it is conve
nient it is best to see hiiu. He gives advice free,
but fur a thorough examination with hi- Kcspir
ometer his fee is three dollars.
Sold by all Druggists and Dealers' prico $1.50
per bottle, or $7.50 the half dozen. All letters fur
advice should he addressed to Dr. Fehenck's Prin

DIED-
At hts residence, near Bedford, on the 2'st day
of September, Major JOS. SELLERS, in the 7tHh
year of his age.
Our deceased friend was a fast prisoner to a
disease of protracted "and intense sufferings,
during the lutter years of bis life. For many
months he was deeply sensible of bis daily sink
ing with weakness. He felt, and bim
4elf, as "being suffered by Providence to continue
in that condition, that he might be perfected
through such trials and be prepared for eternity."
His patience, and resignation to that will were
well marked by all who had the privilege of con
versing with him in last days. But at length the
long looked for hour came, and he departed from
the troubles of the flesh and entered on his rest.
He was a consistent member of the Evangelical
Lutheran Church —and much esteemed and loved
by a large circle of friends and acquaintances, as
the uncsua.l attendance, that followed bis remains
to their last resting place, testifies. M.
