The Original Colored Dentist. We don't know that anybody has a rirrht to smile at an advertisement which we find in a Southern paper, announcing that Dr. Blank, "the original eclored dentist," is prepared to supply to colored ladies "artificial teeth, with plumpers, mounted on plates in a neat and durable manner, to restore tne original expres sion of the face." The doctor probably under stands his business, and if he really be able to put a handsome and original face in the place of one which has worn out or baoken down, we suppose he must be considered a public bene factor. We are suspicious, however, about the cheapness of the doctor's terms; and it would be well that his patrons anemia be warned to see to it that his plumpers and teeth are not the cast-away articles which have been gathered up in the dentists' offices of Northern cities. living Without Eating. To live without eating what a blessing that must be, considering the high price of provisions and the confirmed incapability of a majority of cooks! Yet how few are there who find them selves equal to the miraculous method of saste nation! We hear of one woman in or near Kichmond, Va., who "cats nothing at all," and who is kept alive by a daily application of oil but whether the said oil maybe olive or whale or petroleum, we are not informed. The lady is described as "devotedly pious," and thankless indeed would she be if she were not as pious as possible under the circumstances. We are asked to believe that it is now a year since she took any solid food. We decline to believe anything of the kind. We arc certain that no human being ever lived for 305 days without food. The lady may be, as Bhe is described, "of angelic beauty," but we are confident that her digestive apparatus is perfectly human. ihlnamen In Nan Francisco. If John Chinaman expects to retain his charac ter for peaceful ness and the innocuous cultivation of his own pig-tail, we mnsn't hear of any such stories as this, which comes to us from San Francisco: It appears that about forty China men were employed in a cigar factory in that city. These forty were employed among three Chinese organizations Having tne euphonious titles of the See Yup, the Sam Yhp, and the Yong Wo companies. One of the Yong Wos was discharged from the establishment, and that company filled his place with another of their own order. me new work man was not looked upon with favor by the Bee Yups, who demanded his discbarge. The accommodating employers accordingly informed the new comer that his services were no longer required, and he was on the point of leaving the workroom, when the entire gang jumped from their seats and in dulged in a free fight, which would do credit to a Sixth ward (New York) saloon in political times. The ideal pig-tall placidity was utterly gone. Loud yells and cries attracted a large crowd around the building, while inside, chairs and tables and cigar boards were smashed and hnrled by the men at one another. Finally the police arrived and suppressed the fight. The results were that ten or a dozen received injuries more or less serious, and the whole gang were subsequently discharged from the factory. This won t do at ail, John. . A Venerable Old Age. The following, from one who was thar, is vouched for by him that is, that the old lady made the reply given here, not that she was quite as old as she claimed: When the 15th Pennsylvania Cavalry entered the town of Dawson, Georgia, in tne spring of 180 among those who welcomed them was a negro woman whose appearance denoted extreme age. Impelled by curiosity, one of the "boys" rode up to her and asked, "flow old are you, auntie?" 44 Well, chile," she replied, "I don't 'zactly know how old I is, but I was here when C'lumbus come! " The remains ot General Patrick Cleburne are to be removed from the cemetery near Columbia, Tennessee, where they have re posed since tne battle of i ranklm, to Helena, Arkansas.
