Yesterday morning, about 1 o'clock, a younjr woman i:amed Catha rine Jofpcnny was walking along Lombard street, above Tenth, when she was met by a man, who. after having some words with her, pulled out a knife and rushed at her. Toe weapon struck her fori head just above the eye, inflictive an ugly wound. She screamed, when the cowardly brute ran off. Tennyson's beau tiful story of bora has been dramatized by Charles Keade for Mrs. Bowers, and will be played for the first time iu this country to-night. Mrs. Bowers will assume the title ro'e. The new play is very affecting and betutiful. The lan cuage is chaste, and the plot deep and original. We believe it wilt be universally popular. A prand matinee on Thursday afternoon for Thanksgiving. Walnut Street Theatre. The distinguished author and comedian, Mr. John Brougham, will make his appearance this evening, and will pro duce his new and highly successful play called the loiery of Life. The new drama is full oi fun and focal hits, arranged entiiely by Mr. Brougham. The cast embraces all ot the com pany favorites. A full ballet will be introduced, and an admirable negro minstrelsy scene will be given also by the inimitable Frank Brower. The Lottery of Lif e was very popular in Boston and New York.
