Witness stated that Mr. Brock had told him that lie did not know where the securities lived. Garrett C. Neyle sworn I reside at No. 23 8. Filth street; I am Deputy Collector and Cashier of the Third District; Mr. Brock Us a deputy clerk and bond clerk; lam lamillar with the handwriting of Mr. Brock. (The various bonds were here exhibited.) Witness said these are the fclgnatures of Mr. Brock. The cise was again continued nnlil Wednes day next at 12 o'cloc k. Cascaltieb. Frederick Reinstein, aged forty-eight, who resides at Front and Dock streets, bad his back anil head injured by falling out of a wagon at Second and Area streets. Charles Glvens, who resides at Phccnlxvllle, had his foot burned by some hot Iron, which he was carrying, falling upon it. The above were admitted to the Pennsylvania Hospital. Yesterday afternoon, as Mr. Johnson, his wife, and two children were driving in a car riage along Diamond street, near New Third stteet, the horse look fright at the whistle of a locomotive and ran away. The carriage was upset and Mrs. Johnson was badly hurt, the others escaping with very slight injuries. Mrs. Johnson was removed to her residence, near Flith etreet and Glrard avenue. Farewell Missionary Mketino. Last even ing the Presbytery of Philadelphia held a meet ing in the West Bpmce Street Presbyterian Church, ' corner of Spruce and Seventeenth stieets, for the purpose of ordaining the Rev, Francis Ilejl, Jr., to the work ot the ministry, and to bid him farewell as a missionary of trie Boaid of Foreign Missions, to labor in Northern India. Eev. Dr. Grear presided. After tne opening exercises a sermon was preached by Rev. Dr. Crowell, pastor of the Broad Street Presbyterian Church. At the conclusion of his discourse, the lie v. Dr. Grear addressed the missionary in relerence to the importance of the faithful prosecution of his labor. , A large congregation was present. Examination Into the Violations of thb Sanitary Laws. A joint Special Committee of Councils met yesterday afternoon, for the pur pose ot taking action in reference to the viola tion of the sanitary regulations of the city, in throwing tilth into the sewers of the city. Seve ral witnesses were examined, who tea titled that they had seen tilth of various kinds thrown into the sewers, and in such quantities as to make it necessary to open the fire-plugs frequently to pet rid of the nuisance. This Committee were also examining into the transactions of the Board of Health during 1866. But few of trie witnesses Deing present, the committee aa jouined to meet at the call of the chairman. Thb Summer Vacation. The schools were closed yesterday at noon for the summer vaca tion. The exercises incident to such an occa sion were interesting; those at the Weccacoe Grammar School, in the First Ward, particu larly so. Recitations, dialogues, music, etc., were made the order of the exercises of closing at this school, under the auspices of Mr. Oliver K. habold and Miss Anthony, principals of the male and female branches of the Institution. This school has improved very much within the past two or three years, and if it increase! with equal rapidity for another year, it will then be second to no otner in Philadelphia.
