The i-xcn i-cn were opened with prayer, after which all present united in sing ing the first hymn in the programme. The Annual lleport was read by the Secretary, William Syckelmoore, Jr. It was Hhown that the Association, during Iho year, had accom plished a good work among the poor and des titute of the surrounding district. Among the means used hy the members of accomplishing their work, is the distribution ot religion's tracts and the circulation of copies of the Holy I'.ible. 'j here are about one hundred and fifty names on the roll of membership, and all the persons represented are actively engaged in doing good. During the evening speeches were made by !ev. It. S. Tharin, of the Eleventh I'.aptist Church, and Rev. (Jeorge 1). Jioardman, of the First Baptist Church. The singing was under the direction of Mr. John M. Evans. The officers of the Association are: l'resideut, John D. Ford; Vice-President, (ieorge Stringer; Secretary, William Syckel jnoore, Jr.; Treasurer, William J. Clark. The Recent Stohm. Uy telegraphic des patches we learn that the recent storm raged with almost unexampled fury all along the coast. Jt seems to have been unusually severe at the mouth of the Delaware l!ay, a number of vessels having heen blown from their moor ings at the lireakwiiter and driven ashore. Information from there yesterday states that the steamboat Albany, from Philadelphia for New York, had heen driven ashore opposite Lewes and was a total wreck. The bark Aurora, from this city lor Cork, was also ashore, with her masts gone and otherwise damaged. The officers and crew had arrived at Lewes. The bark K. Schultz, for New Orleans, and hark Minna, for Jiremen, with masts and rigging gone, were hard ashore; also the schooner Clara C. Baker. The gale lasted for about two days, and in addition to the above vessels a number were damaged by coming in collision with those at anchor at the Ureakwater. Hosfital Cases. John Vaughan, nineteen years old, a resident of New York, was ad mitted into the Hospital yesterday, with a severe injury to one of his feet, caused by it being run over by a car on the Reading Rail road. Mary Ann Burns, twenty-three years old, residing in Jones street, near Twenty-first, tripped on the Uoor yesterday, and, falling, bloke one of her arms. Mary Murray, twenty-eight years old, who was discharged from the Hospital on Monday as a cured patient, was again admitted yester day with an arm rebroken. Testing the New R.ui.koad Law. The first arrest under the law recently enacted, relative to allowing colored people to ride in the cars of the city passenger railways, took place yesterday a mulatto womem, named Caroline R. Lacount, being the complainant against the conductor of car No. 24, on the Tenth and Eleventh Streets Railway. Akotuf.k I.vct.ease. An ordinance will be presented to Councils on Thursday, asking that the salaries of all the clerks in the various Departments of the city be increased. The increase asked for will require an appropria tion of $17, (JOS, which will add about twenty per cent, to the salaries now paid. TicKrocKETS at Wohk. Last evening Mr. G. A. Schwarsman, of Baltimore, had his pocket picked of a book containing bills, checks, specie, and a daguerreotype, shortly after leaving the Baltimore Depot. The papers are of no use to any person but the owner. Sale of Loans. The Commissioners of the Sinking Fund of the City of Philadelphia sold during 180'b' stock of the Pennsylvania Rail road Company to the amount of $l,'201,723,'.i!), and purchased loans of the city to the amount of $l,WD,103-7O, at a cost of $!)82,2'J-H1. A New Steam Engine Tkied. The steam fire-engine built in this city lor the ':Sun," No. 1, of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, was tried yesterday at Broad and Fitzwater streets. She threw a stream 2-10 feet. Bopy Rkcoonized. The body of the woman found drowned at Market street wharf on Sunday last, has been recognized as that of Louisa Lentz. She resided at No. 779 South Front street. BECKWITII'S ELECTRICAL INSTITUTE, No. 1220 WALNUT Street. During mir Investigations In the treatment of dis ease in lis various forms by the agency of electricity, w e have obtained very many valuable and startllng lacts, w hich, added to the nrevlons though limited inliiniallon possessed by other and less fortunate operators, place us beyond all previous knowledge of this injsteilous agent. During tho course of our prac tice we have treated and cured, through the know ledge thus gained, many thousands, and by means of our new discoveries have established ourselves as tho most successful Medical Electricians In this country or Europe. Electrical Investigation has proved that tho human body acts on the prluclplo of the galvanic battery. The brain, mucous and serous memirancs, the skin tissues, and fluids, constitute the negative and posi tive lorces, and every action, whether mental or phy Hieid, Is the result of these antagonistic forces. Diges tion, respiration, circulation, secretion, and excretion are Cue solely to electrical lulluence. There Is a polar action eFlabllslud throughout the nervous system which tunnel t, with every part ol the body, establlsh ll g and preset vlng a proper balance of tho electrical clement which constitutes health, and a disturbance of which cause disease. There are strictly but two conditions ot disease ono of Inllammatlon, or posi tive; Die ether, weak, debilitated, negative and as electricity contains these two conditions in the action ot the positive and negative currents, nil we have to do is to neutralize the disease and restore proper healthy action. Among the chronic diseases In which electricity has been und Is dully being, by out agency, of tho greatest utility, a cure being rapidly elTceted after tho luiluro ot all other means, are: 1. Epilepsy, Chorea, or St. Vitus Dance, Paralv-U (Hemplegia), Neuralgia, Hvsteria, Nervousness, Pal pitation ot the Heart, Locl.law, eic. 2. Sore Throat, D.sspcpsia, I ilurrhiea, Dysentery, Obstinate Conslipallou, Hemorrhoids, or Biles, Bilious, Flatulent, and Painter's Colic, a id all ullec lions ol the Liver uud spleen. It. Catarrh, Cough, influenza, Asthma (when not cnused by organic dinenses of mo heart), Bruiiuhllis, I'll ui isy, l'leurody ma, or Rheuiualism ol the Chest, Consumption In the early stages. 4. Gravel. Diabetes, and Kidney Complaints. 5. Rheumatism. Gout, Lumbago, Still- Neck, Spinal Curvature, Hip Diseases, Cancers, Tumors (llio-,e las', limned always cured w ilhotit pain, or plasters lu any lorin). il. Uterus Complaints, involving a mal-positlon, as Prolapsus, Antroversion, Retroversion, lulliimma lion, Ulceration, and various other allectioiis. For mloriiuition desired upon other diseases, appli cation may be made al the otllce, or by letter. Mrs. BECK WITH has entire charge ol the Ladles' Department, and all delicacy will be used towards those who entrust themselves to her can1. In feuiulu diseases, it Is universally successful hi her bauds.
