The Exhibition of the Artists' Fond Society, WI ABOVE IS A VIEW OP THE "ARTISTS' FUND," TAKEN FROM LIFE. "We Lave often seen exhibitions of this kind, ot only among artists, but sometimes among editors; and an empty pocket-book is a ery poor thing to draw from, but a poor artist lik the one we engnged to make the sketches for this article said he was glad to draw from anything. The first sxibject that strikes you on enter ing the room is Susahsah, by S. Bewauiui. Autdmn, by Team O'Ran. This is some pumpkins, and the pickles are so thick that they fairly cucumber the ground Such a profnseness is the fruit of much labor. Mercy's Dream, by De IId.nt Ixgtojt. for Mercy's sake, we would ask, When is this picture going to cease meeting our eyes f It etares at us from all the 6hop windows; it is among all the prizes of the Gift Concerts; and what was only a pleasant dream of good old Bunyan's has become an awful night-mare to us. Have 110 Mercy ou any more exhibitions, is our advice. Ox the Mersey, iiy Jay Hammil Ton. FROBPEKO AKD MIRANDA, BY 0. W. TUTTY. This picture portrays a little conceit of Shakespeare's idea of a Robinson Crusoe on a tragic scale; also, a little conceit of Putty's on a pieoe of canvas. Both conceits are well put by the Hanging Committee. ' . TOONO MOTHER, BY O. BEAI.AMBDIN. - This is a most touching little picture the 'Cruet" containing the Vinegar and tha Mother" is well conceived. The stopper . jnight have been improved by putting it in the mouth of the Cruet, so that the strength of the "Mother" would be preserved. ' wArrmn ms THE TRAIN. BY C. F. ON TUB 8OIK0, BY T. I. FENNPU18. Tins little gem displays a perfect fete in the handling. The artist has certainly great feel ing for natural scenery, and the view we consider in his happiest vein.. BEN NEVIS, BY J. FORK NERR. This view of Bun is taken from (ilenpiman, yet at that height the pipe is plainly visible. Jersey Sands, by Nedmo Rasne. This is a very good painting of the sands of life that had run out of the celebrated retired physician, and as such has a historic Interest. It was suggested, at the time, by many who read the retired physician's advertisement, that if he had mixed his sands with a little molasses they would not have run out so fast. The artist has caught the inspiration of the scene, and has given us the sands mixed in that manner. IN THE EAR, BY O. BEALAMBDIN. This is a perfect "stunner," and right well does the artist, who hits from the shoulder, handle his subject. If the artist handles his maul stick as neatly as his hero doas his mawleys, he would be a dangerous fellow to come across In the Ear. , I WIWWW II (Will .i ii itm h..angt. i.n.in. SOUTH PASS IN THB ROCKY MOUNTAINS, BY A. BEERSOT. We suppose there is more "poker" played in the Great West, in proportion to the population, than any other part of the world. The artist has chosen a moment when the player on the south side is engaged in a "pass," and which was repeated so often dur ing the game as to be known by the lookers-on as the "south pass," while his opponent was known as the "north pass." The picture is quite pass-able, and we believe the artist would be able to "order it up" at any time and make his point. T 1 BIIEEP. BY N. H. GALLOPER. Very prettily painted, but the off 'wheel seems to be defective in drawing. Indeed, it seems that if any attempt was made at draw- i,,r it. it would tumble over. With this trilling evcPTt.inn. we believe it fully up to this artist's usual productions, which always remind us of great cry and little wool. I.Kinmi iAP. BY F. D. BURK GIUTCnARDS.
