Mann, George P. Lee, George Bnr mabn, Samuel A. Bispham, Thomas R. Davis, W. J. iroward, and Henry D. Moore. The pre sent building is too contracted, Bnd if the public respond to the present appeal, the Managers will be placed in the possession of means and facilities to extend the benefits of the Institution to all parts of the district. Approach op the Buimhno Season. Erery indication goes to show that there will be exten sive building operations during the coming building season. The following permits have been taken out at the Inspector's office: For the erection of a warehouse, 80 by 100 feet, and two stories high, on the site of the destructive tire on Broad street, above Race; nleo for a storehouse on North street, above Fifth, which is to be 84 by 78 feet, and live stories high. At No. 42 North Fifth street a live-story storehouse Is to be built, which is to have a front ot 20 leet and a depth of 100 feet. On North Third street, at Nos. 215 and 217, a four-story storehouse Is to be put up, which U to be larger than either of the others. Tho , front will be SO feet and the depth 150 feet. ' The improvements on South liroadstreet, which were begun and vigorously carried on a lew Sears aeo, will be added to this season. A andeome dwelling is to be erected at the cor ner of Btoad and Ellsworth streets, to be 22 by 80 feet, three stories blb; at No. 1912 Sansom street, a dwelling, 19 by 41 feet, three stories high, is to be put up; also a coppersmith shop at No. 491 North Third street, 22 by 97 feet, thiee stories high: a storehouse on Richmond 6treet, between Hanover and Palmer, 28 by 83 feet, two stories high; a factory, 60 by 26 feet, at Dauphin and Amber streets; a machine shop, 66 by 88 feet, and two stories high, on Uirard avenue, near Leopard street; a handsome dwelliug, 40 by 60 feet, on Belmont avenue, north of Girard avenue; and two breweries, one on Tenth street, below Columbia avenue, the other in West G'.rard avenue. What the Ice-Dealers Have Done. The ice dealers were successful in filling their houses during the past winter. The Ice secured from the Schuylkill is from ten to fourteen inches thick, very clear and solid. The following statement shows the number of ice-houses filled and the quantity in each: tons. The Special Committee appointed by Councils met yesterday afternoon, in accordance with the following resolution: Jiesoivea, By the Select and Common Councils, That a Joint Special Committee of three mem bers ol each chamber be appointed to inquire into the expediency and legality of paying off the original Gas Trust Loan( tor the purpose ot taking possession of the Gas Works, and managing them as a depaitment of the city.'and report the proper manner ot doing the same to vvuut i in The Committee met for the purpose of per fecting a plan by which the holders of tho Gas Loan, issued to pay for the construction of the original works, may be reached for the purpose ef obtaining their consent to change the Gas Loan lor the six per cent, bonds of the city. The Committee, alter an informal discussion of the matter, adjourned to meet at the call of the chairman. Commencement op the Mauneman Institute. The commencement of the Hahneman Insti tute, composed of studeuts In the Homoeopathic Medical College, took place last evening In the building, Filbert street, above Eleventh. The audience room, which was crowded with ladies and gentlemen, was handsomely draped with flags. On the plattorm were the Faculty of the Colleso and the heads of the institution. The exercises were of an Interesting character, and were Interspersed with music ny the Germanla Orchestra. On Suturday the College Commence ment will take place at the Musical Fund Hall, when the decree of M. D, will be conferred upon thlrty-nlnc graduates. Arrest op a Burglar. Hugh Drain was ar rested yesterday afternoon, by Messrs John Jenkins and Schuyler, on the charge of having been concerned in the recent heavy robbery at the Duncannon Iron Worke, In the Interior of the State. The prisoner was handed into the custody of Bernard Campbell, the Chief of Police of Harnsburg, who took htm westward in the early train last evening. The same par ties arrested Michael Hair, ou Saturday on the charge of being concerned in the same robbery, and sent him ulo to the piece where the rob bery was committed. The olficers say the pri soners are "dead to rights." Meeting op the Anti-Luu'or-Law League. A meeting of gentlemen opposed to the sale of ardent spirits was held last evening, in the hall on the northwest corner of Tenth and Chemut stieets, and effected a permanent organization; after which addresses of some length were made by Messrs Ilobbs, Baucroit, and others, It is the intention of the Society to hold meetings on every Tuesday evening.
