In the early part of the afternoon, a man who had some cause of difference with another by the name of Johnson, living in the lower part of the city, in what is called the Neck, went into his house with a doublo-barrclled flhot-gun for the purpose of shooting him. lie met Mr. Johnson, and pointing the gnu at him, discharged the contents of one barrel at him, taking cflect in his abdomen, and lace rating it in a fearful manner. Johnson died Boon afterwards in horrible agony. The motive for the deed is not known. That it was a deliberate murder there is no doubt.
