And il, previcufly to obtaining such certi ficate or bill of health, any matter or captain (hall fuffer hi# vefTel to approach nearer than ti»e said Health-Office to th\city of Philadelphia, or shall land, cause or fufFcr tb be landed, or brought on shore, at any or port within this- Cora n*>nwealth, or at any other port or place, with the inte&t of being conveyed .into thjs Commonwealth, any pcr.fon oitperfons, cr any goods, wares or mer chandize, or, if after receiving ( fuch bill of health o. certificate; he shall ncglr-<fc or refufe to deliver the fam* to the Health-Officer, such maflter or cap tain shall forfeit atia p y, for each and every such offence, the sum of five hundred dollars. And the cattail or mailer of every ship or ves sel shall fend a file and commodious boat to Tiring the phyficiin on board, and shall in like manner convey him back to the Health-Office, after he has concluded his official examination ; And while he is making such examination, or in rase any quent examination by the Health Officer or C<jn falting Phyllcian,' agreeably to the d re&ions of thi> thojna&r or captain shall expole or caule to be cxpofed to thefearclj of the Resident Phyfi cian,or of the Health Officer and Consulting Physi cian (as the cafe may be) each and every part of the ihip or vefTel, and shall prcfent to Ais view each and every person cr p«rfor;s on board thereof, and and shall also true and f'atisfa&ory answers make to all such questions as the Resident Physician, &c.. at4'he time of examination shall ask relative to the health of any pert or place from which the ship or vessel failed, or has finqe touehed at— number of persons on board wh'cn the ship or vessel entered on her voyage—the number of persons that have fincc been landed or taken on beard, and when and whererefpe&ively—what persons on board— s they hatfe been during the voyage, or shall, at the time of examination, be infeded with any pes tilential or contagious disease—and what is the pre sent slate and condition of the persons on board with refpe»£l to their health or diseases. And if any matter or captain shall refufe to expose as aforc aid, to the search of any of the officers aforefaid, n if he shall conceal any ftck perjon, or in any other man* icr deceive tie proper officers aforefaid in his anfivers t * uch captain or mader,for every fttch offence, shall forfeit and pay the sum of five hundred bol* ' LARS.
