CONNIE WHITE Special To Lancaster Farming MARATHON, N.Y. The New York State Milking Short horn Association’s annual fall meeting was conducted here at the Town Hall on Saturday, Nov. 8. The association will participate in the Spring Dairy Carousel Show at the New York State Fairgrounds in April of 2004. Be sides a cattle show, they are aslo sponsoring a heifer calf sale. The sale committee includes Harold White, Jerry Merrill, and John Kuszlyk. They will attend an or ganizational meeting for the Car ousel Show on Nov. 19, with the New York Holstein Association, who sponsors the event. The Carousel Show will be dedicated to the late Margaret Brew of Marbert Farms, Bergen, N.Y. The New York Associa tion is offering a $lOO scholarship to “any junior anywhere” who purchases a heifer during the Milk ing Shorthorn Heifer Sale. Those accepting the schol arship are expected to be come members in the New York Association (fee is $10). The sale is expected to have 10-12 animals from all over the North east. The American Milking Shorthorn Society’s annu al meeting will be in Plano, Texas on June 16-19. New England will host that annual event in 2007. They hope to give the flavor of the olde New England states, where farms are smaller and the land is hilly and rocky.
