Pa. FFA 2003 Limited Edition Tractor To Be Auctioned HARRISBURG (Dauphin Co.) For the first time, the Pennsylvania FFA Foundation is going to auction off the first in production tractor from the 10th in the foundation’s Limited Edi tion series. A 2002 John Deere 4450 will be sold at the state Farm Show on Jan. 14 during the 4-H and FFA Junior Livestock Champi ons Auction. This tractor is the fifth John Deere in the Pennsylvania FFA Foundation Series and the last John Deere Tractor the state FFA Foundation Board is offer ing. The box of the tractor in cludes line drawings of all the previous John Deere models. The tractor’s highest bidder will receive a letter of authentici ty framed for display, a champi on banner, and all the media State Treasury Staff Members To Maintain Booths At Farm Show HARRISBURG (Dauphin Co.) State Treasurer Barbara Hafer has announced representa tives from treasury will be at the 87th Annual Pennsylvania State Farm Show, returning casji and other assets to attendees and as sisting fanners with information regarding liquid fuels tax returns and low interest loans. Representatives from the Un claimed Property Bureau will be a£ Booth SIS 3 in the main exhibit hall from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Jan. 11 through Jan. 18. The staff will be equipped with laptop computers to- determine if visitors have un claimed property. A notary will be available to expedite the claims process. Staff at the booth also will have information on Ag riLink, the state’s low interest loan program to help farmers prevent pollution from animal wastes. Additionally, brochures on other treasury programs will be available. Representatives of Treasury’s Board of Finance and Revenue will be at the adjacent Booth 5152 in the main exhibit hall from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Jan. 11 through Jan. 18. They will be available to answer questions about liquid fuels tax returns for farmers. The Board issues re funds for taxes paid on fuels used for commercial agricultural pur poses. Production of these tractors was made possible through Trac tor Supply Company’s first-ever support of Pennsylvania FFA at a state level. The tractor supply logo is on the box. The Pennsylvania FFA Foun dation began their Limited Edi tion tractor series in 1992. The four of the first five tractors were Farmall models with the fifth being an International. The John Deere Series began in 1998 with the production of the John Deere B replica model. While many of the earlier models are sold out, limited quantities of the remain ing tractors will be on sale at the Pennsylvania FFA Foundation booth, near the Pennsylvania De paid by farmers for gas, diesel and other fuels. Farmers not reg istered with the board may do so at the Farm Show booth. Each year the Board processes thou sands of claims and returns mil lions of dollars to Pennsylvania farmers. “Whether it’s returning un claimed property to the rightful owners or aiding Pennsylvania farmers,” Hafer said, “attending events like the Farm Show help us find people who wouldn’t typi cally find us.” “Anyone who wants to find out if they have unclaimed prop erty can visit out Website, www.patreasury.org, and check the entire on-line database,” Hafer said. “We estimate one in 14 Pennsylvanians is entitled to unclaimed property, and the av erage claim is $1,000; so it’s well worth checking.” Treasury’s on-line database in cludes more than one-million un claimed property accounts rang ing in value up to hundreds of thousands of dollars. The Milk Marketing Board (MMB) announced the prices to be paid to Pennsylvania dairy farmers for December Class I milk (beverage) as an average of $14.57 in the western areas of the commonwealth, and an average of $15.06 in the central and east ern areas of the commonwealth. These prices do include the over-order premium of $1.65 per one hundred pounds of milk.
