Packer de mand good as competition for open mar ket cattle crept into the market place. A modest decline in the numbers of formula cattle has improved seller’s position in ne gotiations and this expected to continue into next week. Improvement in boxed beef figures late in the week eased packer concerns about negative margins. USDA’s boxed beef cut-out values Thurs day averaged 110.17 up 2.99 from last Friday. Sales of slaughter cattle on a iffl tional basis for negotiated cash trades to taled 195,100 through 2:00 p.m. Thurs day. Last weeks full count was 122,900.
