As part of the many activi ties celebrating Berks County’s 250th anniversary, several organ izations have combined to sponsor a concert and drawing on September 14 at the Pat Garrett Amphitheater, Strausstown. Proceeds from the event will be used for the preservation of farmland and conservation land in Berks County. The concert features the Charlie Daniels Band at 8:15 p.m. with the Pat Garrett Band at 7 p.m., Twitty Fever at 6 p.m., and Steel Canyon at 5 p.m. Event organizers felt it would be too difficult to determine which farmer should receive help so these monies will go to pro tect land, according to Berks County extension agent Clyde Myers. The funding source will help preserve farm and conservation land in areas where county and state purchase of conservation easement program is not able to secure land because not enough funds are available, according to Myers. All profits will go to the Berks County Community Founda tion. The raffle includes a John Deere lawn tractor, Grange quilt, chain saw, gas grill, bronze carving, cash, and gift certificates to area businesses. Raffle tickets are on sale at $lO for one or three for $25 at the Berks County Agricultural Center (610) 372-4992 or the Berks Count Conservancy (610) 372-4992. Leadership for the activity came from Berks County’s 250th Celebration Com mittee, Grange, Conservancy, Farmland Preservation Board, Penn State Cooperative Extension, Farm-City Council, and all the raffle item providers. Ticket prices for the golden circle are $35, reserved seats are $3O, and general tickets are $23. For concert tickets, contact Pat Garrett Amphitheater at (610) 488-1782 or www.patgarrett.com. eB&R Cecil County Fair Posts Goat Results FAIRHILL, Md.
