In the Southeast, prices were higher on the larger sizes but lower on the lighter weights. In New York, Philadel phia, and Chicago, prices were lower on mediums and unchanged on the balance. Elsewhere, prices were unchanged. In all areas, mediums were weak. Market con ditions on larger sizes were weak in the Midwest and South Central regions but firm in the Southeast and usually only steady in the Northeast. The trade senti ment for brown eggs was mixed Demand was light to good, best where limited features provided additional movement. Supplies were adequate to ample in all locations except California, which had light offerings. Breaking stock supplies were generally sufficient and demand for additional product ranged light to moderate. Light type hens were usually adequate for trade needs. Prices were lower on medium and un changed on heavier weights. The market tone was steady on larger sizes, although remained barely steady to weak on medium. Demand was light. Supplies were adequate to available. The New York State shell egg inventory increased by 9 percent and the New Jersey inven tory decreased by 10 when compared to a week ago.
