Early this week the steer market opened on the down side, but regained strength late in the week as packers aggressively filled their orders. Midwest feedlots traded cattle mostly 1.00-1.50 higher at 78.00- 79.00 live and 1.00 higher at 124.00- 126.00 dressed. Local holstein steer prices opened the week .50 lower, but closed .50 higher for the week. Slaughter cows traded 1.00-3.00 lower as the Cow Carcass Cutout was down 7.30 at 84.69 on Wednesday. Slaughter bulls sold mostly steady. Supply included 33 per cent slaughter steers, 9 percent slaughter heifers, 45 percent cows, 3 percent bulls, with the balance feeders.
