to 1.00 lower. The steer market opened
weak on Monday and continued to go on
the down side Tuesday. Overall quality
was average with very few attractive
lotson offer. Holsteins traded .50 lowef.
Slaughter cows sold 1.00-2.00 lower.
Slaughter bulls were not well tested.
Supply included 45 percent steers and 41
percent cows.

bulls sold steady. Supply included 28
percent slaughter steers and 46 percent
cows.

CATTLE: Compared to last week’s
closing prices, slaughter steers and heif
ers opened the week .50-1.00 lower, but
closed late in the week 1.00 higher. Early
this week the steer market opened on the
down side, but regained strength late in
the week as packers aggressively filled
their orders. Midwest feedlots traded
cattle mostly 1.00-1.50 higher at 78.00-
79.00 live and 1.00 higher at 124.00-
126.00 dressed. Local holstein steer
prices opened the week .50 lower, but
closed .50 higher for the week. Slaughter
cows traded 1.00-3.00 lower as the Cow
Carcass Cutout was down 7.30 at 84.69
on Wednesday. Slaughter bulls sold
mostly steady. Supply included 33 per
cent slaughter steers, 9 percent slaughter
heifers, 45 percent cows, 3 percent bulls,
with the balance feeders.
