FAIR WEDNESDAY, SEPT. 27 Jersey cows, Jill Neiman takes care of 15 dairy goats on her home farm in Fleetwood. In her ninth year of showing, Neiman, daughter of Leon and Linda Neiman, shows mostly home bred animals. “Tonka’s” long body and meat through the loin placed him at the top of the class, ac cording to judge Weikel. The homebred Tonka has already appeared in Kutztown and Reading fairs and will be sold at Berks County 4-H roundup at the end of September. Judge Weikel, of Blairs Mills, judged both dairy and meat goat shows. Weikel owns a commer cial herd of more than 100 milk ing LaMancha, Toggenburg, and Recorded Grade goats with her husband, Joel. “Conformatioft-wise, the strongest breeds were Alpine, followed by LaMancha,” said Weikel, who noted that the Alpine and LaMancha classes were also the larger classes in the show.
