An avid oil painter, he has contributed to the association funds through his donations of oil paintings, many of which hang in red breeders homes today as well as in the Red & White office in Breezewood. One of his paintings, auctioned just before the sale on Saturday, sold for $l2OO and was purchased by Leon & Phyllis Miller of St. Johns, Michigan. The Albert Memorial Award was instituted in 1989 following the death of Don Albert. Recipients are rec ognized for exceptional service and support of the Association and Red & Whites. Steve Rhodes of Harrison burg, Virginia was the recipient of the J.P. “Doc; Estranger Young Breeder Award. The Larry Moore Master \LLa Breeder Award went to Dan Burket of East Freedom. A “fun auction” which fol lowed the awards brought in $3200. The convention included a tour of the national office at Crystal Springs and also of the Burket Falls Farm. Joah Carpenter, chairman of the event, said,”We were very pleased with the success of the show, sale and banquet. It was the largest crowd ever for the banquet and I think of the larg est crowds to attend a sale. The Troy Fairgrounds will be the site of this year’s show that will be judged by William Taylor, of Marcellus, N.Y. The show will begin at 9:30 a.m. All typical calf and cow classes as well as a class for senior yearlings in milk will be staged including a production class for animals who have pro duced 100,000 pounds of milk or 4,000 pounds of fat. A premier exhibitor and premier breeder for the show will also be named. Once again, the Noble family will present a premier perform ance award in memory of Tommy G. Noble. The award will be given at the end of the show and will be based 50 per cent on milk production and 50 percent on class placing. To be eligible for the premier performance award, please submit the animal’s most recent 305-day lactation summary with the entry forms. Fees of $5 per youth entry and $7 per adult entry should accompany all sub missions. On that evening, a pizza party for exhibitors will be held with a brief meeting to follow. To be admitted to the show, animals must be free from signs of clinical illness or contagious or infectious diseases and must be presented with an official health certificate upon entering the fairgrounds. Vaccinations required include IBR, PI3 and BVD. Animals that have not been vaccinated against BVD during the previous 12 months MILK.
