Since 1973 he has served as historical commentator on many European tours on Mennonite history. Correspondent LITTLESTOWN (Adams Co.) - antique tractor buffs of southern Pennsylvania and northern Maryland are polish ing up their prized plowing pieces for a spring plowing meet. The Mason-Dixon Historical Society is hosting the plowoff and public educational event be ginning at 9 a.m., Saturday, April 29, at the Brian Biddle farm, south of Littlestown. “With the arrival of spring, we are anxious to play with our machines and smell freshly turned soil,’’ said antique tractor collector/restorer Herb Wessei of Lancaster Farming, Saturday, April 22, 2000-B7 Hampstead, Maryland. Wessel, who is helping to or ganize the event, notes that the collecting of antique tractors and farm equipment is one of the fastest growing hobbies in the country. “In addition to collecting and restoring the old equipment, tractor buffs are interested in educating the public about the way farming was done before no-till and other modern farm ing methods,” Wessel adds. “All antique tractor owners are in vited to bring their equipment to participate, and everyone is in vited to come and watch.” The Biddle farm is located on Mathias Road, off Route 97, just before crossing the Mason- Dixon line, south of Littlestown.
