HONEY BROOK (Chester Co-) The Chester County 4-H Dairy Roundup was conducted here at the Romano 4-H Center. Forty-two members, including se ven first-year 4-H’ers, participat ed with 129 animals. Adam Sonnen from Richland judged type for the Holstein, Brown Swiss, and Lineback shows. The Holstein show was the largest breed shown at roundup, with SO animals exhibited. Chester County 4-H captured a grand champion award when his 4-year-old Windy-Fox Mark Ivory, was named senior and grand champion of the Holstein show. Ben’s sister, Elizabeth Brown, was named reserve senior and reserve grand champion with her senior 2-year-old, Windy-Fox Jumpshot Mara. The judge chose a junior yearling, Century-Oak En core Gem exhibited by Brad Guest of Pottstown, for the junior champion of the Holstein show. Brad was also selected as reserve Dairy Roundup A Quality Show junior champion with his summer yearling entry. Century-Oak En core Essay. Senior and grand champion Brown Swiss honors went to Erica Lloyd of Pottstown with her senior 3-year-old, Brownswitch Con C Krystal. Rebecca Nolan of Cochranville was named senior reserve and reserve grand champ ion with Meadow Hill Leon’s Aloha, a junior 3-year-old entry. Erica Lloyd also captured junior champion with her winter calf. El’s Brook Kaitlyn. Reserve junior champion went to Elizabeth Young of West Grove with her summer yearling. Pure-Ayr Jet way Dusty. In the Lineback breed, Becky Baily of West Chester took grand champion with her senior cham pion junior 3-year-old dry cow. Pocopson Meadows Rosey. Pocopson Meadow Jewel, a junior 2-year-old owned by Becky’s sis ter, Meredith Baily. was awarded reserve grand champion and re serve senior champion. Junior champion honors went to Becky with her junior yearling. Pocopson Meadow Rhythm, and Meredith captured reserve junior champion and her junior calf, Pocopson Meadow Mabeline. Yvette Francisco of Oxford, New Jersey, judged type for Guernseys, Ayrshires, and Jer seys. In the Guernsey breed, Julie Sollenberger of Spring City won senior and grand champion with her senior 3-year-old, French Creek Diamond Ann. Todd Mast of Elverson was awarded reserve senior and reserve grand champ ion with Mastdale Magic Chero kee, a junior 3-year-old Guernsey. The judge selected Green Slopes Melinda Mykayla, a junior calf owned by Julie’s brother, Kevin Sollenberger, for junior cham pion, Julie’s other brother, Colin Sollenberger, took reserve junior champion with his junior calf, Green Slopes Myra Merit. Senior and grand champion Ayrshire honors went to Rebecca Nolan of Cochtanville with her 4-year-old, Dreamnol Trident Freckles. Becky also captured re serve senior and reserve grand champion Ayrshire awards with ha 5-year-old, S & M Ayr IRS Opal. Hannah Wentworth of Quarryville was awarded junior champion with her senior calf, Wentworth Farm Plata Mariah. Hannah’s brother, Ethan, was awarded reserve junior champion with his intermediate calf. Went worth Farms Retake Lydia. Leading a quality group of Jer seys was Patrick Jenkins of Toughkenamon with the senior and grand champion, WRF Noble Sundance, a 4-year-old. Erica Lloyd of Pottstown captured the reserve senior and reserve grand champion Jersey award with her junior 2-year-old, Top-O-Hill Juno Patty Cake. Patrick Jenkins was also named junior champion with WRF Fraiser Madeline, a senior calf jersey. The reserve junior champion award went to Kevin Sollenberger of Spring City with his intermediate calf. French Creek Treasure Tango. The showing and fitting con test, always a closely contested event, was judged by Jane Pepple and Joy Crothers, both of Oxford. First-year champion Showman ship honors went to Hannah Wentworth of Quarryville. Abi gail Hedrick of Pottstown was the reserve champion first-year show man. In the junior division, 8-10 years of age, Paul Harrop of Ches ter Springs was named junior champion showman and Brad Guest of Pottstown took the re serve ribbon. In the fitting compe tition, the judges chose Brad Guest and Paul Harrop fa champ ion and reserve champion, respec tively. The intermediate division, by far the largest class of the day, was targeted at youth 11-14 years of age. Patrick Jenkins of Tough kenamon won champion fitting and champion showmanship in this division. Reserve champion fitting went to Josh Spangler of Glenmoore, and reserve champion showmanship went to Eliza Wal ton of Kennett Square. The senior division, ages IS-18, saw Meredith Baily of West Ches ter win both championship fitting and showmanship with Erica Lloyd of Pottstown taking reserve in both categories.
